So the mousers won the league at a canter AND look to have identified and signed up their targets barely after the seasons ended, fair enough wirtz is not done yet but the general consensus seems to be done deal.

I really and truly don’t want to be bad mouthing my own team all the time but the club themselves simply load the ammunition for me, I’m just left to pull the trigger.

At least they’ve flushed 1 so far but the overall outlook is headed for another window to prove Legohead shouldn’t be trusted with another dime, it’s not like history is on his side when it comes to transfers. This berta lad better be the real deal!!
This isnt particular at you chat but I think some on here like self flaggelation...Liverpool have signed right back and trying to sign wirtz. One player. None else has done anything interesting he market yet bar delap probably joining chavs, yet it's arsenal who are desperately failing, despite apparently nearly having signed zubimendi and apparently opening talks on sesko. In may...

Come on lads by all means kick the club in June if its all fckd and nothing happened but get a grip!

Now we may not think the signings are good when they happen but can't kick for slowness yet...although I fully expect these will drag on for most of summer. If they do kick hard. But we are jumping the gun a bit in losing our shit.

We will be given the runaround all Summer and pay over the odds IF we sign anyone.

Out of curiosity Isak joined Newcastle, not the finished article at the time, but we're writing off Sesko cos he's not the finished article.

I'm not advocating for Sesko but where's the difference
Exactly what I was trying to point out.

Well, firstly, having seen both, one moved with the fluidity of an athlete, while one less so. It’s also possible to see clear potential, even if it’s not ultimately realised. With others, the limitations appear more obvious than the potential. No guarantees, but no way do I see Sesko developing into an Isak.

Secondly, we haven’t got time to wait for potential to develop. If we sign a striker with possible potential, then bang goes another 2-3 years while we wait and see. It’s time that we acted like the big club we claim to be and buy the finished article.
Retro not digging you out ,but how familiar were you with Isak b4 he joined Newcastle .We can look at all YouTube stuff etc and be wise after the fact ,and we all know no matter who we sign striker wise ,Havertz is an Arteta fav

That’s a fair point Mc and you’re not digging me out. You’re right to pull me up about it. Cards on the table, I knew fuck all about Isak when he was at Sociedad, but as soon as he turned up at Newcastle, you could see he had a natural ability and moved like a quality player. That’s not always a guarantee, but it’s a positive indicator and from the little I’ve seen of Sesko, I didn’t get a positive vibe. The opposite in fact.

I remember when we signed Henry after his bad time at Juve and it was something like 10 or 12 weeks before he scored. It was clear that he had talent and movement but he kept fucking up in front of goal, including missing one on ones…I can recall a particular one at Highbury. My brother and I had season tickets together back then and we’d been saying that he had everything, but needed to finish. After that missed one on one, my brother looked at me and said “He seems to have it all, but is he gonna turn out to be a dud?”. Well, we know how that turned out after his first goal at Southampton. The talent was always clearly there.

My long winded point is that even without guarantees, if you have a fair grip on the game, you can see talent and potential. I’ll admit to not having seen much of Sesko, but from what I have seen, he lacked both. Isak, as soon as I saw him, looked like a player.

Thynker says on the previous page that Sesko is “the new Havertz” and that's my fear.

HE did play well against madrid and eh........well thats about it really isnt it. Another one that "should" be flushed but will remain to ensure legoheads process can continue.

I do accept the Mantis point that at times it can seem like self flagellation to look at what other clubs are doing and then back at ourselves doing nothing. i reckon its the year after year rinse and repeat transfer windows that have a lot of us like this. I personally wouldnt give arteta money to spend, if i was running the club he'd never have got the job in the first place.

Im just hoping (a fools hope) that The new lad has come in and will make things happen differently.

Sesko was the NINTH top scorer in the bundesliga this year with only 13 goals.
Harry Kane got 26.

Mika Biereth scored 24 league goals this season and had the best goals/shots ratio in all of Europe this season. Surely he should have got at least a chance with us.

Harmoush scored more than Sesko and he left in January!!

If he can't score goals in the Bundesliga, how will he do it in the PL!
Yes Gyokeres isn't tested in the PL, but he was 5 clear of anyone else in all of the European leagues and he scored 42 non-penalty goals across all competitions.

If Zubamendi signs then I can handle us keeping him on for a year. Rice and Zubamendi first choice pair, and Partey can fill in when needed. We know as sure as night follows day, that we'll get some ridiculous number of injuries......so having Rice, Zubamendi, Merino and Partey will be needed

He can't be relied upon consistently for sure, but he's good enough for 15-20 games. If we let him go as well as Jorginho, it just feels like another unlikely signing we'll need to make

I said before - we need a keeper, CF, at least one CDM, a winger and a creator if we're going to be serious challengers for PL and CL. I just know we're a club that won't do that, so adding another CDM to that unlikely cocktail just won't happen

🇸🇮 🔴⚪️ RB Leipzig have indeed started negotiations with Arsenal over the Benjamin Šeško deal. Gunners’ objective is to make progress on several fronts simultaneously to avoid being left empty-handed if talks were to break down.

For now, Šeško does not have a personal agreement with the English club, whereas… Gyökeres has already given his verbal agreement to join the Gunners.. Wait&See. #mercato #RBL

To allow clubs in the World Club Cup to sign players for that competition

Which is what Mudridcuntbags have done with the (ex) Scouse right back Arnold

(***)

The Premier League transfer window will open early between Sunday June 1 and Tuesday June 10 due to an exceptional registration period for the expanded Club World Cup; it will then open again on Monday June 16 until Deadline Day on Monday September 1; both summer windows will close at 7pm

Isn't it funny / odd how they can change a rule when it suits them for Financial Purposes.

Agreed Thynker.

Seems to me that one or all of the following apply:

1. Arteta has always wanted Sesko and this is his choice. Tbh, that’s how I think it should be, it’s the manager’s team and he should have the final say on players. As long, of course, as it’s his head on the block if it doesn’t work out.

2. If we sign Sesko, then Lego Head will be under less pressure to automatically bench his boy Havertz.

3. Chelsea have blown us out of the water financially.
