A complete total utter catastrophe of a summer transfer window without a single solitary signing

I was expecting signings the moment the window opened

5th place finish I think behind Liverpool City Chelsea and whoever buys gyokores :x
Why, we never do that. We speculate, pontificate and send out tentative, lowball bids that immediately get rejected. As we dawdle along eyeing these key players we'll pick up 2 unknowns, a left back and a keeper, one for 10m, the other on a free. Then as the window draws to a close, the guy we were originally after has been sold to a rival or his asking price has gone from 70m to over 100. In the end, they'll re-sell Havertz to us fans..........

With the placating club statement......The fans forget, just before his injury he was on target to score......he can slot in anywhere.......he needs to be given another full season up front so the fans can see what we see....... :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:
Ignore he's a troll

Lol, from an ignoramus.

We do this every single year in the transfer market. We did it under Wenger and we are doing it under Arteta. And we never buy mid season, even if we are title contenders. Thats not trolling, those are facts you lazy moron.

Viktor Gyokeres has told Sporting he will never play for them again - the player is ready to go on strike & will not return for pre season.

The relationship between the club and player is broken.

Manchester United & Arsenal remain interested.

Manchester United is keen to move forward with the Viktor Gyökeres deal, but is cautious due to the overall costs. There are reports that Sporting is intentionally driving up the price.Live update from @JacobsBen

a guy who gets 13 league goals a season IS NOT an upgrade on havertz, and is not going to fire us to titles.
But Augie, you cannot compare Arsenal to Leipzig! We create (and miss) loads of chances a season, we missed 70 big chances last season, a proper striker is going to convert some of those. You're writing off Sesko, a guy who's just turned 22, for scoring 13 goals at an average club in Germany...... Going by that logic, you would never have signed Thierry Henry!!
Sesko has everything in his locker and is only going to get even better.

I think Sesko will bang. I don’t actually rate Gyokeres and think he looks really limited.

It was league and cup goals Augie, both relevant really.
At the age of 21, Gyokeres was knocking in 7 goals in 26 league games in the German 2nd division.
In fact, he's not been prolific until he went to Portugal. If he was 40m, I think he'd be worth a gamble but if they are insisting on 70-80m, it really is too expensive.

Like I have said a hundred times already, I absolutely understand the concerns about gyokeres cos I have those same concerns too, but a guy who gets 13 league goals a season IS NOT an upgrade on havertz, and is not going to fire us to titles.

I've made the point a couple of times on here, but I don't think Arteta has any plans to upgrade on Havertz. He is his boy and he thinks he's the answer.

I've only seen Sesko at the Euros, but his poor display there and his scoring stats suggest a 12-15 league goal striker, at best, just like Havertz. If we were to sign Sesko, he won't displace Havertz, but they'll be rotated.

There doesn't appear to be many top level strikers around, which was something I noticed watching the Euros, but if we were to locate and sign one, then Arteta would be duty bound to bench Havertz and I don't think he wants to do that. He's Wenger Mkll and plays favourites.

But it's ok to compare coventry to AFC ? I mean he played with a coventry side that were deep in the brown stuff and he is being written off cos he didnt set the world on fire there - do you agree that there is a contradiction there ? Sporting seen enough in him to bring him over there and he has been a massive success for them goals wise and trophy wise - that tells me that as soon as he played in a team creating chances for him, then he was a good enough finisher to take advantage of those chances. We as you rightly said will create chances - my issue is ensuring that we have a natural finisher to bury most of those chances. I know that it seems like I am pro gyokeres cos I feel that I am continually having to defend him here, but that's honestly not my position - there are A LOT of poor clubs inn the german top division these days (a few I had never heard of until recently  ), so 13 league goals raises question marks for me

🚨🗣️Sporting president Frederico Varandas: "Threats and blackmail don't work with me. One thing I can guarantee: Viktor Gyökeres does NOT leave for €60m + €10m. I never promised. With this game that the agent is playing, the situation only worsens."

"Until today Sporting has not had a proposal for Viktor Gyokeres. Neither today nor last summer. Viktor Gyokeres is one of the best footballers in the history of Portuguese football, he is a fantastic professional, to this day he has zero proposals and has three years of contract." (@ojogo)
