RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Was very sad to hear this. I loved Cheers back in the day. RIP "Norm!"*

(*Yelled for effect).
Used to record it then watch when I got home pished on Fri nights.
I remember a mate had loaned me a vhs of The Pogues live, I gave it back not realising I'd taped 3 episodes of Cheers over it, he went mental
Norm! (*) Was a far better act than the Pogues so what's the problem!? :?

Never!!!!
Thing is he wasnt really a mate, but an Ingerlish lad who frequented the Pub i'd taken as my local when I lived in Swindon (the jacobs ladder in stratton what a fucking pub that was)
Any ways apparently he was a complete nutter and if he'd not had a week to calm down, then you wouldn't have the pleasure of my company on here

Yeah, sad news. Even as a (mostly) metal fan, I've always loved the Beachboys. They wrote so many great unforgettable songs.

RIP.

Yes, he had a talent for not only composing catchy tunes (with great 'hooks') but was the reason their Harmonies were exquisite.

I went to the Mid-Summers Day Bash at the Old Wembley in 1975 the line-up was very weighted towards American bands. But a very memorable day, blazing sunshine and loads of American Pussy :-P

The Eagles were amazing but they also had Jackson Browne on Piano and Organ that day and performed 3 of his songs...

The Beach Boys came on and TOTALLY Blew the Place Apart ... I mean just remembering it now and I get Goosey Bumps!

Elton John (who had a very strong backing band) came on at about 7:30pm(ish).. He had just released a Dble Album 'Captain Fantastic And The Dirt Brown Cowboy', He opened with Funeral For a Friend (Amazing song) But then went straight into songs from the new album which the majority didn't seem to know... by 8:30pm people were leaving in their droves including me and my mates and Some Very Nice Tanned Chicks from California....

We showed them London :D  :-P ... I remember waking up in their Hotel Room with the Hangover of a Lifetime....
