Oh! Lukasz
Oh! Lukasz
Arsenal have turned up the competition for their goalkeeper's jersey with the purchase of Lukasz Fabianski from Legia Warsaw for £2 million.
Fabianski, 22, has been capped four times by Poland and was voted the best goalkeeper in Poland for the last two seasons.
What's he gonna be chanced when Lehmann & Alumnia still... or?

Its usual for big clubs to have 3 or more good keepers at anyone time .. just as cover. But as Lucasz has been quoted as saying, he is not here just to make up the numbers ... and the competition is great to keep all keepers sharp and striving to be at their best.
the team trains, and during training sessions skills are assessed .. if he's as good as he is made out to be and impresses in training, don't be surprised to see him move to the no.1 spot.

He is definately here as a first choice for the future, he's a top quality keeper, If Jens gets injured at any point this season he'd better be scared because I think he'll struggle to get the number one back off Fabianski if he's allowed a first team run
Personally I'd put him number one now if we don't buy a centre back who can header beacuse he can actually catch crosses and not flap at corners!

It would be stupid buying him and playing in the reserves for a season. Ok, fair enough...Goalkeepers don't reach their peak until their 30s usually but it's gonna be a set back for any player at the age of 21 to play non competitive football for a whole season. If Wenger not keep him as at least number 2 then I think he better send him out on loan this season.
As for Almunia...for me he's been given a chance and blown it. Imagine if you went into a normal job and cost the company you work for as dearly as he's cost us.

Hang on there Jake N13, in my opinion, Almunia did OK (sometimes, even exceptionally well) last season .. exceeding all expectations. I think he had a bad time the season before last, but last season was good. Perhaps he is getting better as he gets older. So, lets not rush to throw him out .. let them compete and may the best win.JakeN13 wrote:As for Almunia...for me he's been given a chance and blown it. Ok, fair enough, that’s your opinion and everyone wants different things from players.gunners-need-steel wrote:Hang on there Jake N13, in my opinion, Almunia did OK (sometimes, even exceptionally well) last season .. exceeding all expectations. I’d agree he’s a good shot stopper and also very good when it comes to 1 on 1s. Foe me though he lacks the most important thing for a goalie…he’s just not reliable. He can make the most fantsic save but I’ll still just be waiting for him to make that stupid mistake he seem to do at least 1s every game he plays in…sometimes he gets away with it, sometimes he doesn’t but I firmly believe in what Seaman used to say about goalkeeping. .It’s all about how few mistakes you make,
