🚨 Arsenal were scheduled to announce Martin Zubimendi today, however with recent developments they have DECIDED AGAINST IT & have postponed the announcement to pay their respect.

Seems a bit OTT to me - club issued a dignified statement sending condolences to Jota's family which is par for the course, but life and the world is still going on so I dont see how cancelling announcing a transfer shows any extra respect :? If they cancelled it cos they want zubimendi to get his day in the sun (which he probably wouldnt today) then that would be fair enough, but jota isnt a former player at AFC and I dont see the disrespect in announcing a transfer today

Dippers are massive twats though and would have used their mates in the press to invent some narrative that it was all a huge slight against them or something and we'd face a load of unnecessary criticism, as usual. Other way round, they'd have probably been outraged that someone died the day they announced a signing. And booed their national anthem.

Probably just bad optics if zubimendi is all happy and smiling when another fellow player (and possibly a mate) has passed

I thought the same thing augie. Not sure how announcing a signing would be disrespectful? Still, as Perry says, in this mad woke, over sentimentalised world, people and organisations are terrified about how something might be twisted and construed, so probably took the view that one more day makes no difference.

I actually find reactions like this fake and you could argue that it's disrespectful by being insincere and simply an arse covering act, but it's where society is now.

It's similar to the way that black armbands are prone to appear for all sorts of human tragedies, such as an earthquake on the other side of the planet. Does anyone genuinely believe that the players or supporters are truly thinking about those distant happenings before a game of football? Save the show of sadness and emotion for tragedies, or "in memoriams" that people are genuinely connected to.

So all this fuss about Goykores and Sesco is doing our heads in. Would it Ollie Watkins be such a bad signing , has to be good for 2/3 years and has Premier League experience ?
The more this Sesko and Gyokeres circus goes on the more I am warming to the idea of Watkins, who cares if he only has two seasons in him if we actually win something decent then it job done

🚨@SamiMokbel_BBC on Benjamin #Sesko:

”There have been indications in recent days that Arsenal have focused attention on other targets.

The impasse with Sesko could, of course, be a strategic ploy from the Gunners to see if he will accept what to them would be more favourable terms.

Either way, Arsenal are understood to have made headway with a potential move for Gyokeres in recent days.” #AFC

I think Rodrygo would be a bad buy.
Did nothing against us.

I think he could be disruptive

Watkins played 18 more games than Havertz last season and scored two more goals.

He is completely overrated

Even as a big martinelli fan I would probably sell him for that money and especially to saudi where he cant hurt us - I will say though that I would only sell him if we were bringing in rodrygo or someone better (not williams and not eze for the wing). There is a general perception that selling first 11 players weakens to the team all the time, but when the victims sold coutinho they invested the money to bring in van dick and alisson and made the team much stronger as a result - of course the problem is that our club is a shambles in the transfer market so having a plan like the victims had is highly, highly unlikely with the c.unts running our club. I worry that the cone boy would sell martinelli and replace him with eze thus keeping his disappearing captain in the team, and playing eze wider than he plays with palace will see him being less effective than he is with palace
