Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Lots of stories leaked to the press by Arsenal. All I know is that Nwaneri wanted to go to Chelsea as of a couple of weeks ago and was refusing to sign a new contract. I also knew we were going all in for Madueke before we moved. Arsenal were actively discussing whether to do a swap deal to mitigate losing Nwaneri for free next Summer. And finally Berta has rubbed up lots of Arsenal staff the wrong way plus Gyokeres’ agent. Perhaps reality has bitten on that one versus paying £90m for Sesko.
Signing Madueke pushes Nwaneri out of the door as it limits his game time. No idea how that one tallies. A day is a long time in football, so who knows. Perhaps Nwaneri has been talked round. Don’t count your chickens on anything with Arsenal. We are a bit of a circus.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Arsenal have undertaken significant background work on Rodrygo, and have held preliminary talks about a possible move.
Anthony Gordon is admired, while Ademola Lookman has been discussed, but thus far Arsenal have been unwilling to match Atalanta’s valuation.

Lookman is a decent player tbf, but let's be honest here and acknowledge that he is not a player in a team trying to win titles - again I am back to the argument that I have said all along, if we dont have tons of money to spend, then dont splash it out on positions where the need isnt as big. I dont dispute that we need a quality defensive midfielder, but dont splash out almost £60m if it means that we are going to be buying average players like lookman or the chav reject when we could have pushed lewis-skelly into midfield and bought a back up left back for half the money that zubimendi cost, and then we could afford a rodrygo for example

Lookman? Ex-Wandsworth lad.... Don't know much about him as a player.... But Gordon is not what we are in need of... also a right sneaky / dirty fucker.
As Augie said move MLS into his Natural position in Midfield and get in someone else at LB...
Rodrygo? I don't think he could handle the Physicality of the Prem

Read one of the pieces in the papers today linking us with Eze and they used the following to explain why he would be suitable for us -
"As the game starts to open up ahead of him, he has the quality to find the final pass to release a team-mate into space and behind the defensive line on the far side.
One of the criticisms that was levelled at Arsenal last season was that they were slow in the attacking phase with passive movement and passing as they looked to build their attacks.
Adding a player with the aggressive ball carrying and passing profile of Eze will definitely speed up the Arsenal build-up and bring more aggression in the final third."
This is exactly what I have been saying for years - with captain invisible in the team our attacks are slow and considered rather than pacy and direct, and this is why eze would be a MASSIVE upgrade on the disappearing coward. Putting balls in behind for saka and martinelli to run onto would lift their game and the game of the team in general, and that is why this transfer should be a much higher priority than left winger

Been saying it for weeks... in fact.. throughout last season having seen how Very Good Eze is... he would definitely increase the pace of our attacks and provide even more chances for whoever ends up being our main striker..... He's got pace to burn and actually enjoys taking on (and beating) Defenders... I wish the club were more intent on signing him before Madueke.
Edit: From Madueke's Wikipedia Page:
"On 20 January 2023, Premier League club Chelsea signed Madueke on a seven-and-a-half-year contract,[17][18] for an estimated transfer fee of £28.5 million (€33 million).[19] He scored his first goal for the club on 2 May, in a 1–3 league defeat away to Arsenal.[20]
Ahead of the 2024–25 season, Madueke stated that a dispute between teammates Enzo Fernández and Wesley Fofana (with Fofana accusing Fernandez of racism), would be resolved.[21]
Madueke scored the first hat-trick of his senior career in a 6–2 away win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on 25 August 2024, having come under fire earlier in the day for disparaging the city of Wolverhampton in an Instagram story.[22] The story was later deleted and he apologised after the match.[23]
In December 2024, Madueke was told by manager Enzo Maresca to "work harder" after losing his first-team place.[24] In February 2025, he was injured, and ruled out until late March.[25]
On 5 July 2025, it was reported that Madueke agreed personal terms with Arsenal, although the two clubs had not yet agreed a transfer fee.[26]

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Would Eze be brought in to predominantly play left wing, 10 or a mixture?
We absolutely have to upgrade Martinelli this summer so I’d want his main position to be on the wing with the option of going in the middle at times.

Gyokeres, Rodrygo AND Eze in the same window and I’d get Big Berta’s face tattooed on my bollocks!

Was just thinking that the other day. Read some story saying arsenal had agreed terms with the player and now they were off to negotiate with the club and I was thinking shouldn’t that be the other way round?mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 7:42 pmOn a side note ,I thought that teams couldn't contact players without permission from their clubs, tapping up it used to be called ,or has that stuff all gone out the window.
