Dennis Bergkamp/rocky

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

All the fluff about transfers nowadays, but nothing will ever beat that day in 95 when we signed Dennis

Up there with my favourite moments as a Arsenal fan

+2 arrived home from work none the wiser and my dear departed dad phoned me and told me. I ran around the back yard yelling and screaming like a lunatic.

The bird I was living with at the time thought I was mental.

My all time favourite.

This magician would unlock those low blocks the current team always face!

I worked with a Scum supporter at the time, and when it was announced on the radio (GLR iirc) that we had signed Dennis, he actually went to sit in a room on his own and had a little cry

When he came back, all he said is that it was all over :barscarf:

Blimey, I’d forgotten about GLR. Was that Robbie Vincent and also the miserable bloke on mid mornings, Brian something?

Does GLR still exist?

Nah, GLR got binned when an absolute woke melt took over running local radio. It's now BBC London, but got so bad even the taxi drivers switched off in droves.

There was a time when it was really good promoting good new music and upcoming comedians, with relevant stuff for all Londoners. Now it seems to specialise in minorities. I used to listen to GLR and BBC London but gave up on it years ago, especially as you can find anything online or on DAB. Funny thing is so many radio stations copy that formula now and BBC London listening figures tanked

There is an all time classic bit of radio broadcasting when Danny Baker has an on air rant for 2 hours  calling his bosses pin-headed weasles after finding out that his show was going to be dropped and no one thought to tell him :D
