As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I’ve said before on here that we traditionally had a white away kit and I don’t think anyone believed me. Just found this link online.
Have a scroll through and you’ll see that until the late 60s, our most common change strip was white.
I’ve never liked the yellow, even though it was the kit I grew up with. Always find yellow a weak colour for a sports team. Not masculine enough and suggestive of cowardice.
Btw, I doubt any of the mugs on AFTV would have a clue that historically we had a white kit.
I believed you and was aware of it. Nearly all the clubs that had red or blue jerseys had a white away jersey at times historically.
For me, the yellow away is reminiscent of the great 71 and 79 FA Cup wins and the 71 Double.
Also, I'll raise your yellow for cowardice with a white for surrender!
But personally, I just can't get past the fact it's the scum's colour.
Sometimes surrender makes tactical sense (especially if you're French), but there's never an excuse for yellow bellied cowardice (again, see the French. ).
As for the scum. it's not their colour. Nothing is theirs. Non entities own nothing, other than a chicken as their crest, they can have that.
Out of interest, I quite like the very first kit on that away strip link. Blue and white stripes, 1892. Any Sheffield Wednesday haters on here that would object?
We've mentioned the green and blue before, 1982/83. Pretty universally disliked if I remember correctly, but me, you and augie liked it. Cracking kit in my opinion and I'd be more than happy if that was our change strip.

Yeah I loved that green and blue one. It was like looking at a weird reverse tinted image of the home strip through those old 3D glasses or something!

Great analogy. I used to look at some very unusual things with those glasses on, but it made me blind.
The green away kit from 1982 was beautiful, however I can't remember it without seeing Lee Chapman in it...
It's obviously a very long time ago, but I seem to remember that we had a poor run of results whenever we wore it and as usual, the idiot media made a thing out of it. I think it turned fans against it. We were a poor side in 1982/83, so would have had piss poor results whatever we were wearing, but I've a feeling our form was part of the reason it was discarded the next season.

Maybe I'm misremembering of course.
Got to the two domestic cup semi finals but were beaten in both by Manchester United...it was a dreadful season otherwise.
For some reason we wore the green away kit at home to Sparta Moscow In the UEFA Cup ...Lost 2-5 to go out 4-8 on aggregate. If memory serves me we were 2-0 up in the first (away) leg only to lose 3-2. But no one could imagine what was going to happen in the home leg. It was a disaster, I remember listening to it on BBC Radio ..
