Very defeatist as Isak is injury prone , they may be selling Diaz and/or nunez as well. They are buying ntekie now instead it seems who is more of a no 10.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 11:03 amthe playing mantis wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 10:02 amSlim to nilRetro Gunner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 9:49 amI know there is a very anti Liverpool feeling on here, which in general I don't share. It's rumoured they are interested in Rodrygo and are prepared to break all records to get Isak. We've been interested in both those players, but what are the odds that Liverpool will get both without much fuss, or a long, drawn out saga? You know, similar to the way that we wrapped up a quick deal for Madueke.![]()
Hope you’re right. We’ll see.
If they get Isak, then might as well give them the title now.
I know nothing about Wirtz but supposed to be special.

I’m assuming Rodrygo might be the replacement if Diaz goes. Frankly, selling Nunez would improve their squad!

And of course Our very own Ethan Nwaneri signing a (new) 5 year deal![]()
If we do get Eze, then with the exception of Madueke who will have convince a lot of people in a very short space of time, it will have been a very good window (so far)
Really want the Eze Deal to happen, but the CuntyChavs (with £52Million of our money) are sniffing around:?![]()
Yeah, I said this the other day. If we complete the signing of Gyokeres and sign Eze, added to the others we’ve brought in, then we’ll all be able to get over the inexplicable Madueke signing.
Any less than that, or if Madueke is a regular starter on either wing, then Arteta is on thin ice…or ought to be.

I've never believed one striker makes a team unstoppable, they weren't that great last year , everyone else was just shit. Who knows how Wirz will settle and Salah will decline at some point.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 3:21 pmgooner265 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 3:13 pmVery defeatist as Isak is injury prone , they may be selling Diaz and/or nunez as well. We had 14 draws last year , turn a lot of them into wins and it will be tighter. We have a great back 5 just need to address the front 6, still work to do , hoping for Eze.

Isak will crash and burn playing 3 games a week. Even last season when Newcastle were just going Saturday to Saturday he missed a quarter of their league games. He's no robust enough for Saturday Wednesday Saturday and will get crocked just as he did when the choppers had that schedule 2 seasons ago.

Going to be really interesting to see how much time Arteta will be given to make all these signings fit. If we win zip again this year will that be the end for him or will it be "give him time to mold them"?? Another 2 or 3 seasons.......
I don't think a lot of our so called fans realise how much money he has already had to spend.

There's a straw man argument going on there...I didn't say one striker makes a team unstoppable. They were pretty unstoppable in the league last season and by adding top quality they raise that level further. They have a very solid and effective team and seem to be making targeted improvements. They may get neither Isak nor Rodrygo, my point is that Isak would take them to another level. As for Salah, he ain't about to drop off the perch just yet.
This narrative that they weren't that good, it's just that everyone else was poor, is incredibly weak. Smacks of sour grapes and forgive me for this, but is somewhat schoolboyish. Even if it were true, it means that the rest have an awful lot of ground to make up and that's going to be very, very difficult if they strengthen with top quality. Let's hope they don't. Of course, for months on here last season I kept reading that Liverpool had played no one yet, that they'd blow up when they did, that they weren't all that good and yet....they somehow managed to cling on and luckily win by a clear 10 points.

As for us and the 14 draws, sure let's hope we turn a lot of them into wins, but let's also hope we don't turn a lot of them into losses. Seriously, some of the analysis from some on here is baffling. Seeing everything through red and white spectacles, whilst harbouring fierce anti bias for any opposition side, seriously impairs judgement.

I highly rate Isak but would have been furious if we spent £70m+ on him and also not signed another striker (a Watkins as cover).Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 4:31 pmrodders999 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 3:41 pmIsak will crash and burn playing 3 games a week. He’s an absolutely deadly striker but, like Rodders, I think he’ll struggle keeping up with a top teams game time. He’s quite injury prone, so it’s a risk (as is any transfer, I admit) rolling a dice on a player with seemingly paper legs.
That being said, I don’t think Isak would force a move from Newcastle given the fact they wins trophy this season AND have Europe next season.
Liverpool will get the Frankfurt striker.
