ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If it’s a blackcurrant flavoured Chewit, then it’s a done deal. If not, you need throw in a packet of Spangles and half a pack of stale Garibaldi biscuits.

Notice Fabrizio says ‘verbal agreement in place’, which basically means nothing is agreed, as it’s not in writing yet.

Remember Gyokeres and his gentleman’s agreement with Sporting that they reneged on? This could be exactly the same. Especially as we know the Sporting hierarchy like to fück people about.

I'll offer you some orange flavour Chewits, unopened, some mouldy TUC, and Old English Spangles for good measure :D

Some people are positively wanking themselves off over how Liverpool do transfers, and that brings a little bit of sick up ......... Just consider something.....

Frankfurt got a call offering them £79....€91m..... For a 23 yo striker who has scored a massive 32 league goals in his career!! Yup, impressive it ain't! So the reason it was done quick, was Frankfort danced round the office for 10 seconds laughing and hugging, and then said yup, that sounds good to us, let's sign it later today (before you change your mind)!! There's a reason some deals are done quickly..... Much the same as Madueke :banghead:

I hear what you are saying teecee, but doesnt that just highlight how pathetic we are being in our negotiations for gyokeres considering that he has scored far more goals and we are offering a lot less ?? I see this as a general point and not specifically about gyokeres, but it is very hard to put a value on a regular goalscorer - I know regardless of what striker we are talking about there will always be people who will question or slate the striker based on the quality of the league they play in, or on how many of the goals they scored are penalties etc, and maybe in the long term those concerns will be proven to be very valid points. However I will also say that there is a chronic shortage of top quality strikers these days when compared to previous era's (people will point to the 4-3-3 system as the main reason and they might be right), and I do not believe that it is possible to take a guy who has always been a 10-12 league goals a season man and convert him into the type of prolific striker that can win you leagues - so yes there is a risk with gyokeres, but imo that risk would have been far higher with sesko or vlahovic or some other guy who has never been prolific in their career.

I only hope and pray now that we get Eze to give him the best possible chance of succeeding for us :barscarf:
