ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
So far our new signings have been gash. ok, so we signed a striker which is something we never had so if he's any good remains to be seen. Have to give that one some time, but other than Zubimendi who imo is an upgrade on what we had all we've done is change the face of what we had and that's not good enough.

Do you mean in how they have played so far in preseason or in a more general the perceived quality of the signings Midz?Midz wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:40 pmSo far our new signings have been gash. ok, so we signed a striker which is something we never had so if he's any good remains to be seen. I haven't bothered watching really any of the preseason games because I just needed a break from football tbh (or maybe just a break from Temu Pep's tippy tappy wannabe Wengerball) so can't comment on how they've played so far. But in general I never put much stock in preseason.
As for the perceived quality of the signings.... well, none of them are currently considered world class, but Gyogi Bear is a highly rated enough striker, and Zubidubidoo is well thought of in general.
I think I'm happy enough to wait and see how their game develops with us. Fingers crossed this combination of players might just be magic. Who knows.
Hopefully we won't be cùnting them all by mid October!

I just wish we had gotten rid of Captain Invisible because I think whilst he is around Temu Pep won't be able to resist picking him and he is the main cause of last season's reverting to tippy tappy on the pitch I think. Of course it's also likely that Mikel Wenger II wants him to play like that, which is even worse, because then the problem is not the symptoms but rather the overall disease.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I've watched the 3 pre season games so far and It doesn't look like any difference from how we played last season.
Gyokeres has only had 15mins so I can't say anything until He gets more time but the sideways tippy tappy boring stuff hasn't gone away.
I hope the team gels and plays well and we become champions of everything but at this current time I just can't see us winning anything.

Re Eze, we are all looking ahead and thinking that the season is starting in a fortnight, but for palace their season is starting this weekend with the charity shield - surely from their point of view they wont want to involve any players this weekend and then sell them after that ? Is it in everyone's interest to get the deal done asap IF indeed it is to get done at all ? If I was palace manager I would be saying that if eze is still here at the weekend then he will not be sold this transfer window

what the fuck is this mid october business...from the look of pre season a few of the players have changed but the utter donkey in charge remains the same with all his associated weaknesses.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 10:58 amDB10GOONER wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 11:47 pmDo you mean in how they have played so far in preseason or in a more general the perceived quality of the signings Midz?Midz wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:40 pmSo far our new signings have been gash. ok, so we signed a striker which is something we never had so if he's any good remains to be seen. players favs on the pitch regardless of form or ability.....check
tactically rigid making it easy for other managers to work it out....check
Tippy tappy tippy tappy sideways and backwards passing with no idea how to unlock defences...check.
dog slow pace throughout the team with not an ounce of urgency about them.....check
absolutely no plan B until the situation is irretrievable and then just throw whoever is closest to you on the bench on in some sort of forward position....check.
I can safely see us calling out the same shit about le fraud Mk2 by the end of august.........

The Financial Times apparently claiming that we are going to bid £52m for eze (£30m up front plus £22m over next 2 seasons) - for starters I would be saying to AFC FCUK OFF and dont bother coming back with a second bid if you think eze is valued at the same price as the chav reject

We had the opportunity to trigger the release clause, but our negotiation team consisting of performing chimps sitting with a Speak and Spell decided not to.augie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 9:38 amRe Eze, we are all looking ahead and thinking that the season is starting in a fortnight, but for palace their season is starting this weekend with the charity shield - surely from their point of view they wont want to involve any players this weekend and then sell them after that ? Palace can use the Charity Shield to put him in the shop window and potentially start a bidding war, which could drive the price over the release clause.
Except for the shite that we buy from our rivals I'm never convinced that we ever really want some players

Cheaty are now 'making enquiries', so if it's a question of How Much?
