MADUEKE or MADAWANKA: Yet Another Pointless Chav Reject???

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not sure what you expect Rice to say.

He was asked a question and of course he will back the player.

In my opinion do I think Madueke improves the squad, yes.

He’s quick, direct, can beat a player and is still relatively young.

My real issue with the deal is the size of the transfer fee.

If you read my post again, you’ll see that I said that the club should stop the players giving these interviews. That removes the need for Rice, or anyone else to have to come out with inane nonsense, which might well make him look stupid in time.

I’ve seen nothing about Madueke at Chelsea that will make us stronger. If you believe that, then who would you drop from our starting eleven to include him? If you think he makes the squad stronger, then it’s a “meh” from me, because he’s looked bang average at very best at Chelsea.

Of course, the key issue, as you say, is the fee. I said elsewhere that I wouldn’t have bought him regardless, but if forced to do so, would have rolled the dice for no more than £15-20m. How we agreed £52m for a two year flop they paid £30m for and now want gone, is utter lunacy. It raises another huge question over Arteta’s judgement and competence and as a by-product, loads pressure on the player to perform and to do so from day one. It’s not the players fault and I hope I’m wrong and wish him all the best, but he’ll get a five minute honeymoon period and then be under intense fan scrutiny. Other than amongst the fan boys of course. You know, those that maintain that Havertz is top quality.

Jesus. Fuck me but a quick read through the comments under that video is a grim experience. We have so many utter fucktard superfan tossers in our fanbase.
I don't bother reading the Comments Section of Anything that is (Official) Arsenal, because as you say, not one of those fan boy Numpties has a fuckin' Scooby.

Absolutely agree with all of that. I've nothing personal against him even though he is ex chav and I want him to succeed because if he is succeeding the knock on is Arsenal are succeeding and that is all that matters to me.

But in the cold light of day I think it is insane to pay 52m for a player that was rated at 30m before he went on to fail miserably for two years.

Fingers crossed he's the proverbial diamond in the rough but he's an expensive one!

When his highlights package is him hopping on one leg, holding a broom handle above his head and then scoring past no defenders and a youth-team keeper, I fucking dread to think what the rest of the stuff looks lke.
