Correction: one goal and one assist. He had a very good second half though someone posted something midway through saying he was playing badly .......REBEL GOONER wrote:one goal in a friendly hardly makes a player

He was 4 YARDS OUT. and tbh thats not gonna save him from being a bad player. Why does everyone persistently defend this player and yet criticise Theo who at the same age is playing sublime football in comparisonTheOne2Smooth wrote:how about the goal against Villa in the last minute to save our Home record last year???EL-Z wrote:Funny how many people are now saying Bendtner should be getting the boot. I for one said he was crap at the beginning of last season so Im gonna brag about that fact lol. Personally I still think hes overhyped and an arrogant tart to boot. he should ply his trade somewhere else. And by god if someone mentions the winner against spurs I will gerot you cause one goal doesnt mean shit over an entire season
I see more blame at the moment for Big Nick if he merely gets four goals (witness the, well about his level comments) then for Theo, even if Theo scored once and played poorly. Yes Walcott got it in the neck earlier this year when he was struggling but Big Nick hardly had many fans either
People are too impatient, the likes of Cesc are rare. So are 19 year olds playing so regularly in the top division, 21 year olds are supposed to be just starting to break in, not getting nine goals in their debut season. We can be too impatient with our young players

We are just relying on too many of them in the first team squad. That's the boss' choice.Magic Hat wrote:I see more blame at the moment for Big Nick if he merely gets four goals (witness the, well about his level comments) then for Theo, even if Theo scored once and played poorly. After his spell on loan at birmingham i had pretty big hopes for him, but he hasn't really delivered. I don't see him as a problematic player, but then he is neither really creative or ingenious on the pitch. I reckon he'll do maybe one more season then he'll be off, but for now he's definately one to make up the numbers for the games we don't need the win on, as if they ever happen often enough.
How many people this time last year were saying adebayor's going to score 30 this season - not many!
If your looking for a striker with a bad attitude towards his team mates ade's your man - almost every time a ball doesnt literally drop to his feet or someone doesnt read his mis hit pass he starts throwing his barcelona toys out of the pram.
Bendtner has a good touch i really dont know what some people are on about none of our other strikers can bring the ball out of the air like he can and his range of passing is pretty good. As pointed out here he's only young and given the few starts he had last season (apart from everton away) he did pretty well - Give him time and he'll come good im certain.
By the way I have notice him smiling a lot more this pre-season maybe when adebayor isnt around theres a more welcoming attitude from him . . . . i hate adebayor!

I think Bendtner is class and for me should start the season up front with Van Persie! he works hard, he is a big threat in the air which we dont really have and his passing is superb at times! he doesnt ever seem phased about who we are playing, he just does the job, and remember he is still very young, i think we can expect big things from him this year or maybe next! he is above Adebayor for me at the moment, and playing all the time would score lots of goals!
although I appreciate your opinion Bendtner is not even nearly ready to play first team up front. His aerial threat is average. His passing is wayward and sporadic at best and WORKS HARD?? Sorry i can appreciate opinion up to a certain point but that is a shocking statement to make. Even Bendtners backers will tell you his workrate is poor at best. Hes lazy, rarely runs off the ball, has slow reactions and his general attitude stinks. Vela for me is the man to start up front with RVP. Great pace, flair, control, picks the pass beautifully and is always in the danger areas getting on the end of crosses.Swale_Gooner1985 wrote:I think Bendtner is class and for me should start the season up front with Van Persie! he works hard, he is a big threat in the air which we dont really have and his passing is superb at times! he doesnt ever seem phased about who we are playing, he just does the job, and remember he is still very young, i think we can expect big things from him this year or maybe next! he is above Adebayor for me at the moment, and playing all the time would score lots of goals!
Fair but innaccurate points as we see more and more players breaking in at younger ages and developing their skills to a pro level by the time they hit 20. Theo took a stupid amount of abuse throughout the entire season last season when he was doing a hell of a lot more that Bendtner. Infact if anything it was Bendtner who would get most of the defense from fans last season despite his dire and arrogant performances. One also has to argue that at a team like Arsenal where youth breaks in at such an early level it is not unreasonable to expect to see talent at an earlier age than at other teams where the age range balances out. Using Cesc as an example is unfair because no one has ever insinuated that Bendtner or any other player should be at Cescs level come such a young age.Magic Hat wrote:I see more blame at the moment for Big Nick if he merely gets four goals (witness the, well about his level comments) then for Theo, even if Theo scored once and played poorly. Yeah like the goals against spurs liverpool newcastle and everton they were all average headers - fair play people dont like him but give him credit where its due he's good in the air and he gets into the right positions to get onto headers.[/quote]DavrosG wrote:. His aerial threat is average. .
excuse me but how many times has he not even jumped for clear headers and lost his positioning at vital times. lets talk about his fantastic header for spurs while were here. credit those goals were great headers but that shouldnt mean you can gloss over his errors in the same area of supposed expertise
all players miss chances i dont think theres a single striker in the world you can say doesnt and what does scoring an own goal have to do with his offensive threat - you clearly dont like him and thats why you bring these things up - i wonder if vela only scored 9 after his first season we will all be questioning the value of having him in the squad.
