forum avatars
people -
just starting a thread here to fully explain the disappearance of the avatars, and to emphasis that you can still have them, you just have to re-submit them.
now i know those that have uploaded, er... big ones... probably did not realise that the size of them would re-produce as big as they did. so no-one's deliberately trying to mess up the look of the forum. however, let's face it, a few were getting a bit on the large size, and the webmaster and myself were getting a few complaints that the pages were starting to become difficult to read on some screens without excessive use of the scroll bar.
i asked the webmaster (rob) to look into this, and i think the situation was a bit like cancer needing chemotherapy. so before the forum became even more popular, new parameters were put in place that will avoid huge images being able to be used.
so a million apologies that you will have to load them again (and that some of them will be too big), but it was either act now or leave ourselves in one hell of an unreadable mess once the season gets going in earnest and end up with an even worse situation.
incidentally, i should point out that although the forum might look fine on your machine with the huge avatars, different browsers, operating systems and screen sizes produce varying results and the forum can look quite bad with certain combinations that people are used to using.
thanks for your understanding, and look forward to seeing the avatars again - once you reload them. if you are having trouble, either pm rob burne or mr tony saunders (sorry for volunteering you tony, but you've proved quite adept at helping out in the past regarding this)

Meeeeester Tony... You know where this is going.tonysaunders wrote:Gee, thanks!gooner.ed wrote:(sorry for volunteering you tony, but you've proved quite adept at helping out in the past regarding this)![]()

I just cannot figure out how to get any image that small and still make it visible.

So Tone, any chance you can set up my old MT at Anfield avatar again?

Unless it's the missus!!rebel gooner wrote:db10,, hope no 1 nicks ur little mickey burstin thru the middle

For our English/East European/Indian/Aussie/Etc brothers a "Mickey" is Irish slang for the old fella, the JT, the c*ck, the Schlonger, the love wand etc etc...

And less of the "LITTLE", buddy!

for those who don't want to wait for the services of our resident tech-head, i figure that, if you have the image you want, it should be possible to reduce it using the photo manipulation software you have on your machine (normally something is provided as standard when you buy a new pc)
so although many won't own photoshop, they should have something which allows them to change the size and pixelation of an image.
could be right, could be wrong - but just a suggestion. otherwise, form an orderly queue for mr saunders' services, and hell, it'll give him a breather from you taking the rise out of him for a few hours

Re: forum avatars
I can make it happen, but I think you need the picture on your machine in order to do it, so I'll need to send it to you. If you're cool with that, private message me with your email address (or post it on here if you're feeling dangerous...), I'll send it to you and then we can go from there.DB10GOONER wrote:Meeeeester Tony... Thanks Tony. I sent you the private (oo-er missus) email.
This avatar thing is driving me nuts. It's embarressing!!
I mean, I'm fairly up on computer software and use photoshop and movie maker etc quite regularly. I really will have to get the hang of this...
But at a later date. For now I'll rely on our old mate TS.

Avatar up and running.

TS - you da man. Thanks again.

I'm over for the Derby Co game in Sept. If you are about (or any other Gooners on here) and fancy hooking up in the Rocket for a bev I'd love to buy you a beer for all your help.
Er... Just Tony gets a beer from me though, ok lads? Er, lads?
