Is it just me or are we one of the most secretive clubs in the world in all regards?

Yeah i suppose now that you think of it I couldn't give a damn about the other clubs in the transfer windows. Thats why it just seems their transfer are announced immediately...i just see the end result...which is, of course, not even the tip of the iceberg.

Still, Arsenal's the best at everything, and secrecy is a part of everything...so we are...

I do think we are very secretive about things especially transfers. I remember the story of George Graham being on a golf day with journalists while Ian Wright (the record AFC transfer at the time 2.5 million) was at Highbury having a medical and signing for us, the journalists didnt have a clue.

Its the way AFC do things and it can be frustrating at times but also classy too. Leave small clubs like Spuds to leak stuff to the media.

It's club policy not to comment until they've signed ..Unlike the Manc's ( hargreaves ..Teves etc ) & the likes of Real madrid .. I know i prefer our way.

This Silent Stan thing just won't go away, will it? :?

I too would love to see us more competitive in the transfer market. And I'd like to see DD back.

But I really don't see SS coming in and giving us Billions to spend. And I don't see AW spending billions even if he had them.

And I DO NOT want SS near the club if he is going to borrow heavily on our assetts to finance the takeover (neither officially confirmed or denied by him - although he HAS said he sees nothing wrong in doing so) like the Glaziers did at the manure filth. I mentioned on an earlier thread about this that SS is reknowned (like a lot of yank businessmen) for "sweating the assett" - ie; taking out as high a profit from the new company as soon as he can for as long as he can. This means minimal investment on his part.

IF SS is using his own money to takeover and THEN is willing to at least make funds available for transfers and/or wages then fine. 8)

I have my doubts though... :(

When the rumours first came out about stan, i was very uncertain and had the same reactions as the board did and couldn't wait to see the back of him but over a period of time my veiws have changed and would like to see him at the club with Mr Dein. This is also my 300th post.

:) Why is it that the fans that are anti the kroenke takeover feel that it is ok to condemn anyone that supports the takeover without knowing his plans but yet are willing to oppose the takeover from the very same position ? Leigh I suspect is one of these fans but he is 100% right when he suggests fans are sliding towards supporting kroenke cos of the DD factor and I am one of those fans. I agree that it is unlikely that should a takeover be successful wenger will be given an endless amount of money and equally as doubtful whether he would spend it anyway but it is hard to say whether Arsene's strict handling of the coffers is down to the way he prefers to operate or down to a lack of cash. One thing we all know is that this board is not the way forward and even those anti kroenke have conceded that on these forums. Yes I would place my faith in DD quicker than the rest of the board for 2 reasons (1) his close relationship with Wenger. Anything that helps keep Arsene at this club forever has to be good (2) DD invested in this club himself as opposed to the likes of phw & bracewell smith who inherited their shares> I think that DD would not make decisions that would have a detrimental effect on the club that he invested in & worked so hard for over the last 24 years. I really hope that to fund this takeover kroenke doesn't have to go the glazier route because I really want to see DD back and I think the success or failure of this bid will hinge on how it is financed

lot of good points augie.. my opinon is one of hope and if dd is with stan then good cos dd has arsenal in his heart and wants 2 make us great on the pitch,, i know he was opposed 2 the grove bcos he saw money leaving the team,, wit stan comin in i dont think he,d do a glszier but would want us 2 be competitive on and off the pitch.. 2 be honest i never care who sits in boardroom as long as there backing the team fully,, :?:

Well done Ben14 on your cricket score lad 8)

I am no financial expert but Stan is reputed to be worth £700 million. He is going to make a £650 million bid for Arsenal which will leave him £50 million :?

Now I know he will not buy it like that so he will then have to borrow and heavily too. If anyone knows how it all works can you explain to me how it is done WITHOUT incurring a mountain of debt like Manscumdung United.

Mr Green, u got ur figures all wrong ... according to wikipedia, he is worth $2.1 billion USD ...

see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._Stanley_Kroenke
http://www.forbes.com/lists/2005/54/H6A2.html

He owns or co-owns an NFL team
an ice hockey team
a basketball team
a US football team
a US soccer team

So, he is no new comer to big time sports clubs ... which is why I believe that as he seems to be saying, he will not have his hands all over the club .. for folks like him, the motivation is no longer purely that of money-making ...

In terms of wealth, this Yank is no Roman. Green gooner was only 300 million out. I imagine much of Kroenke's wealth is tied up in his property and sports empire. His missus may be the WalMart heiress but borrowing will still play a big part in the takeover. Don't get me wrong, I would hate Roman to have the Arsenal; Chelsea fans must feel like an insecure mistress dreading the time when their sugar daddy pisses off, leaving them with a taste for the high life and no means of achieving it alone.

Why are English clubs desirable for such heavy foreign investment? The return isn't great. As more clubs join the foreign billionaire club, available CL places diminish as Platini gets his way.

I can see the cost of watching Arsenal on TV or at AG gradually going to a different level. In ten years we will hark back to the 2007 ticket prices and the days when we could watch the odd game on Sky for £40 per month. As we reminisce Hovis music will be playing in the background.

Well Sky have listed his wealth at $1.4B equal to £700M so we'll just have to trust that DD just like he did with AW has searched the globe to find the right man cos he is probably going to have to pay well over the current valuation of the club and borrow heavily to complete the deal!
I agree with CC in that just as we yearn for the good old days now so it'll prove ten years from now but I know we can't stand still, but remember SK will be a business man with a heavy loan, and I can only assume he is going to try and make the Arse a truly global brand!
The warnings are there about where we are headed in the fact that we are extremely lucky that this did not happen earlier or the Arsenal Tavern, The Pins, The Auld Triangle, The Gunners Pub and not forgettin the cafe as well would now be a distant memory, jesus that chills me to the bone just thinkin about it

First off I would just like to say hey to all you guys.

TBH I trust David Dein more than I do the rest of the board and so if he thinks that Stan is the right man for the job I agree with him.

Could I have picked a more divided topic to put my first post on??
