Bernie Ecclestone

Post by MK Gould »

I guess you'll have all read the rumours re-a possible bid from little Bernie. I'm no great fan of F1 (well, not until Lewis Hamilton started doing his stuff), but it seems to me that Bernie is just a leech who sucks money out but puts little back in.

Apparently, we weren't even first on his list. Chelsea were his original target, but he was outbid by the russian.

Don't know about you, but I think I'd rather stick with the current board..... or even sell out to Stanley Dein inc!

Totally agree.

Just look past the fact he is english and rich and nothing he has said supports the fact he will be anything but bad for us.

he was quoted saying that if a team of the biggest football stars in the world were playing out in his back garden he wouldn't bother opening the door to have a look!

a man that has no interest in the game can be no good for any club he's just in it for the business sense, i cant see the board selling to him

For Christ sake if Chavski, with their minute fan base prior to 2003 could unearth a fan with billions of spare pounds then why not the mighty Arsenal?

Appearently Lashmi Mattal is the only UK resident with more wonga than Abramovich, anyone know if he'd ever followed the Arse in his time?

I cant see it happening with Ecclescake!

Im in the Stan/Dein camp!

I have never doubted that Dein has the best interests of the club at heart so I dont think he would entertain anyone who might fuck us over!

This worries me all of this... I can just see football imploding (as i feel it has at Chel and Man U). We are the ONLY English club in the top 4. Manu & 'pool owned by the septics, Chels owned by the Ruski's. We STILL have English ownership. I feel eventually it will be a mad rush amoungst the 4 who have been bought out. If a player has a value of 5m and Arse, Chel Man U, 'Pool are in for him it will end up in a huge bidding war and his value end up about 20m. I know you'll say "Wenger won't let this happen" but whoever takes over will want immediate success contrary to what they say in the press. So if AW wants a player this will happen.

In a totally 180 degree U - turn on the above...

I know the chants of "Eng - er - land, Eng - er - land" emminate from the away end every game... Has anyone stopped to think what England have actually won over the last 40 odd years? Shag all if i recall?

I said this a few weeks ago when Sp*rs got Darren Bent for £17m, i would rather pay say £10m - £15m for a player from brazil, italy or france because they have winning teams, the England national side is a laughing stock but the players are still valued so highly its crazy, i would rather of brought Crouch for £10m (a regular england player) than £17m for Bent who struggles to get in the squad.

I have spoke to alot of fans from diffrent clubs and most this season are not happy with the transfers especialy sp*rs fans who are pissed off with the price tags of some players

I say Arsene Wenger should hold his ground and not give in to paying rediculos amounts

You know what you're so right. I have a good mate who's a season ticket holder at O.T even though he lives in Cambridge. Now i'm Arsenal 100% but i have as much time in the world for ANY fan of ANY club who does their bit and follows the team where they can and is not a "your team's shite, because they are" fan. He said something to me which really stuck with me. Watch ANY England game and who's flags do you see? Bristol Rovers, Sheff United, all lower league teams. Why follow England when you can have quality 1st class premiership football and Champ League away days too!

He said there is no loyalty between united and England from all the stick the fans gave Beck's after his exploits against the argies. When we beat united at the Emirates this season the united fans were singing "He runs down the left, he runs down the right, that boy Ronaldo makes England look shite!". Man U Against England!

Exactly right!

Why pay stupid amounts for a player because he has an english passpot when you can have the forigen equivalent for half the price!

On slightly different thread it pisses me off when the press go on about all the young English talent at Arsenal that dont get a chance. Apart from maybe Bentley who has since admitted his attitude was all wrong, who has left Arsenal and gone on to better things?

Julian Gray? Tommy Black? Vernazza? Ryan whatever we flogged to Derby who have since released him?

If we had good enough English talent they would still be at the club or would have gone to other Prem clubs! Doesn't happen tho hey!
