07/08- Strongest XI

Post by RaM »

So admittedly we (hopefully) don't have our full squad so far, but, using what we have, what do you guys think is out best starting 11, plus bench?

What formations etc would be our strongest?

And I'm not going to offer my opinion yet because its late, and I'm too tired to give much thought. (or proper, sane thought anyway...)

im going to be awkward and say obviously diffrent starting XI for diffrent games

i would go for

GK - Jens
RB - Sagna
CB - Kolo
CB - Gallas
LB - Clichy
RM - Eboue
CDM - Gilberto
CAM - Cesc
LM - Tomas
ST- RvP
ST - Eduardo

These for teams like Fulham, Man City, Sunderland,
but against the Man Utds, Chelskis and Livershites

I would go 4-5-1

GK - Jens
RB - Sagna
CB - Kolo
CB - Gallas
LB - Clichy
RWM - Eboue/RvP
RCM - Cesc
CDM - Gilberto
LCM - Tomas
LWM - Eduardo
ST - Adebayor

I could go on and on, home games, away games, big teams, lesser teams and so on but that would just be sad. Or would it?

Oh yh carling cup, f.a cup and championsleague all have to be considerd

Agree with you 1886 although you've left Hleb out who is going to prove himself as the best goalscoring winger of our generation this season!

I think Hleb will be great next season. Certainly some goals from him.

Would you use Ljungberg off the bench?

Only on Tuesdays

But why do you think he won't be? I've watched some of his Stuttgart footage and he looked real good. Give him a chance and he can be good for us I think.

Why would the boss have bought him if he didn't think he had talent?

3-4-1-2

Gk Jens
RB Eboue
CB Toure
LB Clichy
RM Hleb
CM Gilberto
CM Fabregas
LM Denilson
AM Rosicky
ST Edurado
ST RVP

Also very changeable you could put Fabregas AM drop Rosicky back to LM and put Denilson CM.

Or Hleb AM, Fabregas RM (played there once last season for a bit of a game) Rosicky LM and Denilson CM.

Interesting ben-gooner...

I'd have just a 4-4-2

Lehmann, Eboue, Toure, Gallas, Clichy, Hleb, Gilberto, Fabregas, Rosicky, van Persie, Adebayor...

Bench: Fabianski, Djourou, Walcott, Eduardo, Diaby

Mind you though later in the season Eduardo could start for Adebayor as he proves himself.

But those starters could be adapted/swapped to suit different formations e.g 4-3-3 or 4-5-1

True but he didn't score goals for them either....wasn't it like 13 goals in 5 seasons or something?
