Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

to the tune of que sara sara

When I was just a little boy
I asked my father what would he be
Is he like Wrighty, or Titi henry?
Here’s what he said to me

oh Vela Vela, our Mexican superstar
He’s better than Lou Saha
oh Vela Vela… (repeat)

I really do like that one Smoothy. 8) However, just a couple of little changes to the verse will make it even more Arsenal related.

To the tune of Que Sera Sera:

Since I was just a little boy
I've seen John Radford and Ray Ken-ne-dy,
Smithy, then Wrighty, the legend Henry
Who will the next one be?

Oh Vela, Vela,
Our Mexican superstar
He’s better than Lou-is Saha
Oh Vela, Vela

Bit too wordy for the fans. Some of the younger fans want remember ray kennedy. The original is better suited with wrighty and titi Henry. But the mexican superstar is class. :barscarf:

Yeah, you're probably right. Credit is due to the original writer for the great chorus though. 8)

Good song. Works well & everyone knows the tune so could catch on. 8)

Only thing I’d say is that although Saha was obviously used cos of the Lou Saha/superstar rhyme I’m not sure it really works all that well. Makes more sense when using the “he’s better than…â€

Okay then. How about:

Oh Vela, Vela,
Our Mexican Superstar
He's better than Can-to-na
Oh Vela, Vela

That would certainly wind-up the mancs!! 8)

By the way, you're right UFG. I think we're both over-analysing these chants just a little more than is healthy!!

To the melody of 'That's Amore':

If he plays on the wing
yet he doesn't do a thing
that's Eboue (that's Eboue)

And instead of a cross
he just stands looking lost
that's Eboue (that's Eboue)

Can't play wing, that's the funny thing
yet the manager thinks he's like razor

Pardon me, can't you see
we fans think he's shitty
that Eboue!!

Pretty good IHH but surely not as good as my Robert Palmer "Addicted to Love" Eboue song:

Might as well face it you're a dick in a glove!
Might as well face it you're a dick in a glove!
Might as well face it...

Stolen of course from the dick in a glove thread, but pretty apt.
