What is Arsene Wenger Doing?

Repeat after me - It's gonna be OK...I too swing wildly between optimism following the good bits of last season and doom and gloom for the missing 'galaticos' - Bobby, Denis, Thierry, Freddie, Paddy - all gone. Well, maybe this weekend will give us some answers? Then again...at the moment it feels like the vultures are picking at the bones.

Matty Taylor (now of pompey)WalcottSignedMyShirt wrote:which players realisticly would you like AW to sign?
+ long distance finishing for times when teams pack their buses in front of goal
SWP (now of chelsea if the price is not inflated)
+ pace, go past defenders, give extra ttacking options
Stephen Appiah (Ghanain, now of fernerbache)
+ engine and determination similar to michael essien ... he may not have the best touch or brains in the game, but the engine and sheer determination will provide much needed steele down the middle. Will also free berto to provide defensive cover esp. with ANC coming.
An experienced central defender with aerial authority, eg:
Puyol (why not be audacious)
Alex (ditto)
Curtis Davis (not so experienced, but there aren't many around)
etc etc

I read somewhere else today that despite Ian Wright begging Arsene to sign SWP, Mr. Wenger doesn't want to buy him, regardless of the price!! Yet apparently we did want to sign him before he went to Chelsea! What's changed in those two years?
I have always thought that SWP would be a good signing for Arsenal - and not because his old man played for the club - but didn't think Chelsea would sell him to us at a realistic price.
However I did secretly hope Arsene would be able to purchase him once the player became disillusioned with life as a chav reserve. Now that seems to be the case, my hopes are shattered by the apparent comments of Arsene. If he ends up at the Spuds, as has been strongly rumoured, I'll be extremely annoyed and very, very angry!!

I think you should stick to Championship Manager football simulation and buy Raul and Ronaldinho to play up front for Arsenal.....but all joking aside, the nature of the structure of Arsenal FC is that of prudent financial management and I believe this will see our Club prosper long term, as opposed to Liverpool/Man U who are one massive inertia ball of debt. I would say to all you fans that are bemused that you have to keep the faith and give your support to the Club. Its no good moaning about not having perfection...
Hear hear!

Voice a concern and we're told we are fickle and better placed in a CM game. Well if we can't voice them here where can we? I'm not going to talk about my Arsenal worries to a spud.
So kiss my arse, you gold at end of rainbow brigade. If blind optimism could be converted to points you've won us the league already.
I think I have said what I need to say in my last post, but just to clarify. I think AW has his hands tied by a board who are locking themselves and the clubs money in a boardroom for a year waiting for a bumper payday in summer 08.
They are hoping us peasants will be kept happy by AW working his magic again.
We were told there would be up to 40million and super class players. If Reyes goes for 10million, I work out our summer transfer policy to have netted us 13-15 million.
Does this mean we have 53 million to spend now? Of course not.
It's a great business we are running. I'd be loving it if I was a shareholder, but I'm not. I'm a lifelong fan. I am a lifelong fan who cannot accept finishing over 20points behind Manure. How do we put a positive spin on that? My mind isn't that creative.
Would it cripple us to have a 40 million transfer kitty? If so, why was it promised? Why was Wenger expecting super super class players?
Sometimes Leprechaun, if you really love something, you've got to question the people who are running it, and I question the board.
Before you go for easy points; no I don't want the club owned by a foreign billionaire, but that is what the board are planning for next year. That's why they've hidden the chequebook.
If by christmas we are six points clear and playing magic football, I will eat extra humble pie with my turkey and love every mouthful. I will also pray at temple Wenger and wonder if he had three wise turn up men at in his birth with a bright star over Strasbourg. I will also try to find the gold at the end of the rainbow.

What is Arsene doing you all ask?
It's all part of the plan for Arsenal's domination of the footballing world. You see, we have sent all of our players from the past to other large clubs around Europe, and whilst there, they will all wait for the signal.
Now, when the signal is given (this will be called A-Day) the players will begin to cause trouble, unrest, etc at their new club. They're like sleeper cells you see...
E.g.
Thierry: "Hey Eto'o, Puyol said you're not Spanish and he doesn't want yo here."
Cashley: "Hey Frank, John called you fat"
And so, as all these clubs fall into wretched times filled with anger and despair, Arsenal F.C will stand head and shoulders above the rest, and then bring all of our players back to the club. Arsenal will dominate the footballing world for the next century.
So why send all the invincibles you ask?
Two reasons.
1. They are the most loyal to the cause, and can be seen as our 'elites'. Only ones so great could be entrusted with such a task as this.
2. To make our opposition feel confident, in the fact that we only have a group of youngsters at our club.
Just you wait, the day is near, and Arsenal will rule the world! Even without a billionare!!
So just keep quiet, and don't let others outside this forum know about this. And most of all remember, Arsene Knows.

You're talking about the SAS then? Save Arsenal's Season.
I like your train of thought...Are you sitting in a large leather chair, speaking with a Russian accent stroking a cat by any chance??
One flaw in the plan - Selling Ljunberg to West Ham is in no way infiltrating a big club! Juventus would've have been better meaning we would have cells in Italy, Spain and England.
Good work
And the best way to de-stabilise Frank Lampard? A light push.

A Sydney funnel web spider? Now I have no idea what it looks like but I imagine its one of those big fuckers that sits down at the dinner table....
I like my dinner guests 2-legged and non-venomous.
And cheers - my therapist says I musn't take this too seriously as it is not the real world. He's in hospital now.
Finally, must be an unusual sight to see so many Englishmen in triple figures!

Not quite that big, almost, haha

Freddie and Henry both played 15 games of under for us last season! Freddie scored no goals and got 3 assists!, RVP was injured for most of it and he is now back, Theo was playing with a broken shoulder which he has now had fixed, we've got Dudu who will finish 70% fo the chances he gets ratrher than the rest of the team who needs 20 chances before slotting it away, Rosicky and Hleb are now both fully experienced in the premiership, clichy and fabregas are both a year older and jens now has some serious competition to focus his crazy mind!
I'm starting to believe Arsene Wenger we don't have to splash out on old experienced players! Who has top experienced players in the prem??
Man U - 6 points
Chelski - 2 points (should have been 4)
Liverpool - 6-1 / 3-1 ring any bells?
We only f*cked up last year on the West Hams and the Boltons and with another years experience we won't let that happen again!! The future is very very bright and it starts now. Freddie was the alst player of Arsene's second great team, we are now about to witness the dawn of the third
