Freddie Gone... Not all bad according to OPTA

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I imagine when Freddie says that we didn't sign any class players and everyone else had left, that he didn't see players capable of competing for the top honours. He's probably right, never likely to see players like Senderos, Flamini, Eboue, Hleb make it to a European Fin...oh, my mistake. I was thinking about the 9 years of Champions League football with super, super class players.

Perhaps Freddie should be asking why over his spell we didn't make it further with a once in a lifetime team?

as a good friend of mine said, sour grapes in the heat of the moment are as raindrops on the red hot frying pan of his accomplishments. he's done a lot for us over the years and i think that we can cut him some slack and let him have his tantrum, i for one will be giving him a good reception when he returns to the grove.

I say well done Freddie. You have been a magnificent and dedicated player for our club.

I have absolutely no sourness towards Freddie. But I think that when a player make a statement on leaving a club, then these statements are open to questioning. Its only the statements I question, not the players contribution - we should seperate the two. Players calculate what they are going to say in such situations to have a certain effect.

I like Freddie, but he should think about our failure to go further in the Big Cup in those years since he joined (and the preceeding ones). I wonder what he would put that down to if asked. Maybe he will write about it (or already has). I would be interested to hear his views.

And if anyone needs some slack cutting, then it is maybe the players who are still at the club. For instance, Hleb.

LADS, I HAD ALREADY MADE A PERSONAL VOW NOT TO GIVE OUR BELORUSSIAN ANY STICK THIS SEASON. 8)

I AM GOING TO DO MY DAMNEST TO CONTROL MY TEMPER WHENEVER HE DOESN'T SHOOT AT THE APPROPRIATE MOMENT; FAILS TO FIND A TEAM-MATE WITH HIS PASSES; GIVES AWAY UNNECESSARY FREE-KICKS IN DANGEROUS AREAS, AND OF COURSE, FAILS TO TUCK HIS SHIRT IN!!

NO, SERIOUSLY. I AM GOING TO TRY AND GIVE THE GUY A BREAK. THE ONLY REASON I DO GET ON HIS BACK IS BECAUSE HE REALLY DOES HAVE ABILITY, BUT DOESN'T MAKE THE MOST OF IT. IF HE WAS JUST SHIT, THAT WOULD BE EASIER TO ACCEPT IN A FUNNY KIND OF WAY. HOWEVER, WHEN A TALENTED PLAYER FAILS TO PRODUCE ON A REGULAR BASIS, IT REALLY DOES FRUSTRATE AND ANNOY ME.

AND TO BE FAIR, MOST OF YOU FORUM REGULARS WILL HAVE NOTICED THAT MY PREVIOUS CRITICISMS OF HLEB HAVE BEEN BASED SOLEY ON HIS PERFORMANCES - OR LACK OF (AND THE FACT HE IS A SCRUFFY *word censored* WHO NEEDS A HAIR CUT!! ).

YET, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I'M EXPECTING BETTER FROM THE HAMSTER, OOPS, SORRY, I MEANT THE HLEBSTER, THIS COMING SEASON. I ALSO THINK HLEB WILL GET CLOSE TO DOUBLE FIGURES IN GOALS!! (YES, I'M ON MEDICATION , BUT HE DOES HAVE THE ABILITY IF NOT THE APPLICATION :? )

DEPRESSED AS I AM AT WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING AT OUR CLUB THIS SUMMER, I AM DETERMINED TO AT LEAST START THE SEASON WITH A BIT OF OPTIMISIM. NOT SURE HOW LONG IT WILL LAST THOUGH.

NURSE, MORE SUPER-STRENGTH SKUNK PLEASE!! 8)

das to see freddie leaving ...he is the last player from the 90's.......and the last to go from the batch of great players....from the 90's and early 21st century. :(

All the best Freddie.... :D
