You missed the positive side of the story!!!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You missed the positive side of the story!!!

Your discussion is all about the liability side of the balance sheet. The point is that there is the cash flow and asset side, both of which are quite rosy. We now have a stadium which is highly lucrative and generates strong cash flows which will grow. Secondly, an external factor is that TV revenues are growing by >60& going into next season, further strengthening cash flows. The result is that the interest and capital repayments on the debt are well within our ability to manage from the cash flows. In addition, we are now in a position where getting to the semi-finals of the Champions is not as great an imperative from a cash flow point of view. We are thus in a better position than if we got a billionaire in to add debt for a takeover. It will not be several years before we can compete in the transfer market. At most, two years should do it. Note also that the development loan you refer to is more than matched by the presales at Highbury, thus making this no debt at all. My complaint again, the debt needs to be put into perpective. What we have in debt for both the stadium and Highbury is somewhat like a homeloan rather than a loan to acquire a car. It is healthy debt matched by strong assets. I apologise if you were going to make the point but I just couldn't wait given all the nonsense comments from fans and non-fans alike about the need for a billionaire investor.

I totally agree with LB, i think the club is in a healthy financial position, with all debt covered by future income from, tv revenue and gate receipts.Any billionairs out there who will either invest there own money,or borrow heavilly to finance the deal, would expect to reap some reward from there investment
and would expect the club to be throwing money back at them rather than them investing more money in the future.
