Mikael Silvestre

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

As a player coach?????

Jesus wept some people do like to fantasise! Why the hell would we employ a 31 year old as a player coach?

Look if he is cheap enough and passes the medical then this move is fine by me. We haxe a lack of experience in the squad which this guy can help to improve. He has been there and done it more times than all of our players added together!

I am sorry but anyone who thinks that Senderos is a better player than Silvestre should compare their personal trophy cabinets.

Yes Sivestre is 31 but that is no age really....I don't here anyone saying we should get rid of Willy because of his age!

Yes we still need that midfielder too but IF this happens I would regard it as a nice little bonus.

Wouldn't mind it. Also wouldn't be much of a dent in the budget. (I hope... )

I really don't want to see any ManU, Cska, Liverpool or Spurs players, past or present wear the beautiful red & white...unless they happen to answer to the name of Sol and help us win The double :barscarf:

Silvestre is injury prone, do we really need another injury prone player, who has with out doubt seen his best days pass him already. And anyway we dont want a manc!!!!!

All this don't want a Manc nonsense is plain daft!

If he is the right quality player at the right price then who cares where he comes from............who grumbled about Sol?

Experience would be useful, haven't seen him play for ages but he was a decent player. However is he going to sort out our troubles in the air? Still need a ball winner in midfield

good solid player who can play anywhere in the back 4, we need some experience around the club and while he wouldnt be a signing that most would have seen i still think it would be a great signing,

Agreed . Considering the signing fee will be less than a million we should snap him up . Our lack of cover at CB and LB is frightening , he has at the very least 2 good years left in him which should give the likes of Norveid and Gibbs time to mature .

Worth a gamble if it comes off great if not we are only losing £750,000. Two pluses he has experience and his a winner

As long as he's purely a squad player then guess it can't do any harm but I distinctly remember watching games with Manyoo supporting friends and they've groaned loudly when they've seen him coming off the bench ala Senderos

Djourou and Sanderos are enough cover for central defence. It doesnt make sence to but a United cast off.
Sanderos had a bad season but I for one think he will improve alot and Djourou looks a good player to me.
