Notting Hill Carnival
Notting Hill Carnival
it's that time of the year again. i've always found that there's a mixed reaction to it. personally i quite like it, as i like some of the music played, but i have not gone to it in a couple years. however i know some who plan to go away that bank holiday weekend every year to avoid it. what's your opinon??

I used to go ever year. Head to Westwood, spend a bit of time at Saxon, pass through Good Times. Seen Wu Tang down there, Jeru, Red Rat.
Then few years ago realised that every year I had been in some aggro there!
Year after that, saw 20 blokes jump on a car, just north of Harrow Road, and try and lynch the driver.
Then two blokes had an argument.
I was near, and could not move as was wedged in the crowd, hemmed in on a crowded bridge.
One bloke pulls a pistol and points it at other guy's head...and I was in the line of fire.
I could not get away, I was trapped.
Thank G-D he put the pistol away without firing...but that was my last year there.

Its all a bit piontless nowadays.
There used to be proper sound stages with live acts esp at the Westwood stage, since they have been removed its nothing more that a massive overcrowding of the streets and prime spot for the criminal element to have their pickings of tourists and natives alike.
The streets are absolutely rammed and its takes ages to get anywhere.
The original point of the carnival has been lost in all the hype, over crowding and violence.
If they removed the soundstage element then you'd see how many people really go for what it's meant to be.
Its a waste of a day out if you ask me.
