Mikael Silvestre

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't believe he has been signed to play as a centre-half. I think Silvestre is merely cover for Clichy and at centre-half in an emergency - which is why we still need a centre-half.

i think Denilson could be converted to a defensive midfielder, he's starting to look stronger now and is starting to become born again hard, remember his sending of at Blackburn last year and remember flamini was not that big either, this would let Kolo go charging forward....what ever Arsene dose i think Silvestre's signing means a shuffle of the pack.

The guy's been at ManUre for the last 10 years, really can't believe how easilly people accept him coming here..am I really the only one who feel sick seeing him in an Arsenal shirt? I don't think I've ever been so pissed off with a signing ever..

I Know Silvestre is not a great header of the ball do you actually think he will be a good player for the club because I dont I see this as Panic buy ok not a big price tag but I dont think he will improve our squad or is my opinion not allowed as it doesnt follow yours!!!
Oh please...........a sermon off the man who threw his toys out of the pram because his face was found over every dating site on the net and so left never to came back........for a month!

You are full of double standards! Somebody calls an Arsenal player a name and you jump down their throats! You make a derogatory comment and within 10 minutes of him signing you are slating him.............see the irony?

Your judgement of a footballer is based on what...........your part time profession of Sunday League referee? Please! Or is it that your judgement of this player is because you have watched him week in week out? No not that either!

Your opinion is of course allowed but when you choose to dismiss a proven centre half/left back of the quality that has many caps for France and has a rake of domestic medals as a "midget that cannot head a ball" then really why bother?

If I call Senderos a uselsess lump with the turning circle of a notth sea oil tanker you jump down my throat! Again see the contradiction?

For someone who insists we love all things Arsenal your speed to belittle our latest signing is incredible!

Come back with a proven arguement and show nothing I have said above is true and I will take you seriously for a change!

as I already said on ANOTHER thread Gallas choosed to leave Chelsea for Arsenal so did Campbell both where first team regulars both where younger!
If Silvestre was a first choice player would he move to Arsenal!!

The bottom line is that the guy has more medals and more experience than the rest of our first 11 put together (okay, not literally but you knowwhere I am going). If one of our players learns from his experience then his signing is worth it. Personally I will welcome any player that wants to play for us for the right reason unless they have previous for mugging us off (i.e. Sheringcrunt).
What is the big deal about him being former Manure :?: It really doesn't matter a shit does it. Will all those that are against him refuse to celebrate winning the CL final if he gets the only goal of the game???? Thought not.

I doubt he'll be first choice for us either - just the strength in depth we desperately need.
