I’ll give Arsenal one more season (19/7)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

And one final point to avoid any confusion: I've been going

However, if that is a reason for not coming then - without meaning to be insulting - I question why you come and watch/support Arsenal? Is it just to enjoy being among a group of people creating an atmosphere? If so, I'm sure there are plenty of other places you could go to get that buzz.
Why should we have to go somewhere else, we were here first. If Joe post-90 from Hampstead doesn't like it maybe there are plenty places he can go to sit and watch the game in peace and quiet, like say his own arm chair?
Cus,

You obviously misunderstood the point I was making. The writer of the article claimed that if the atmosphere didn't improve, he wouldn't come back!! Now what kind of true fan would say or do such a thing? I was pointing out that if that was the only reason he came to Arsenal, then there were other places he could visit that would fulfill his desires more than Arsenal do!! He obviously wasn't there for the football!!

Fecking heck, was that so difficult to understand?? :?

And one final point to avoid any confusion: I've been going since 1968 so I'm no Johnny-come-lately, unlike, I suspect, the author of the article!!
Cus, im the guy who wrote the letter in, not getting into an online slagging match with you but im no Johnny-come-lately fan, this is going to be my 26th season of going to see Arsenal at the stadium(with the exception of the 2 seasons i was travelling), 1st match 15th May 1982, i wasnt there in 68 due to not being born until 74. I love Arsenal but part of going is the atmosphere as well as seeing the team play and play well, players also want atmospheres they are entertainers as much as footballers nowadays and want to be adored by us lot.

Kev

I think you mean Eboue Can't Defend.

I didn't call you a Johnny Come Lately and spent most the thread backing you up with regards atmosphere.

Kev74,

I did write this to Cus in a subsequent post on this thread: "you are taking out your ire on bookanengineer and me on the writer of the 'One More Season' article, who I also took to be a johnny-come-lately, because it seemed he was only interested in attending Arsenal to have a 'good time' at the game, and not out of his love for the club. However, I am willing to hold my hands up and apologise if I am wrong about him."

There you are Kev. I'm a big enough man to hold my hands up when I am wrong.

However, I think my points in the previous posts were valid in as much as you seemed to be threatening not to come any more only because the atmosphere was not good enough.

You have since written that a good atmosphere is part of the whole experience, as well as seeing Arsenal play well and hopefully win, and I totally agree. Now why didn't you write that in the first place, rather then giving the impression that the atmosphere was the be-all and end-all to your support? :?

Cor blimey, you got me all worked up and arguing with Cus over basically nothing!!

Do we really want to move backwards in football & bring the terrces back
I don't wwant piss in my pocket & fights of the North Bank which prob won't happen but Arsenal will think that
If Arsenal don't win trophies then we should then ask for them to cut the prices of tikcets in most areas
Football as we know is a business now then a game & it's a joke that season tickets are £1k each year & the little extra for matchdays & away trips
I take most of my time out to watch a good game of football & would pay to watch anyone but i mostly give my money to the Arsenal as over the past few years they've made my enjoy a good game of football
I've always watched England play & enjoyed them mostly in 96-98 but now they have become boring with a team & manger that can't gel together
I went to the my first England game against Brazil which was a bore for me (a friday night at Wembley with a pointless friendly, FA=RICH OUT OF ME)
I'm even going to the next 2 matches (Germany & Isseal) & i hope if i have the money i decide to waste £30 odd watching Russia at Wembley
Football isn't the same as it was
There weren't no such thing as a club level a few years back, now there is
Less jobs back then, more now
Crap pitches, lovely now
average wages, bucket loads now

Regarding Standing areas, i think we need to wait a few years see where other teams go with it because i would hate for us to be first and somethink happen and our name being draged around the mud and us taking all the blame

Let's think about this old cliche for a second. Anyone who can aim piss into someone's pocket on a crowded terrace must have a bloody good aim. I mean it would more than likely land down someone's leg than their pocket.

"robotic crunt monkey you bastard, these are new jeans, my wallet for fucks sake"

my personal opinion on this is that money should be the only limiting factor in watching football, only go to as many games as you can comfortably afford, we don't want to see anyone remortgaging their house over a game of football do we?

there were people going to every game they could get at in the postwar years until '71 and in the eighties when the team was winning fuck all and there were small crowds and no atmosphere, these people are legends, real arsenal fans. and i hope that if times get tough that i will be like them and ride it out.
