Early Leavers

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Really?

I didn't watch the game, slept through  (I had a perfectly good excuse!)

If it was as small as some are saying, then it must have looked it. How did the crowd look on TV/At the game?

I would say it was a lot closer to 50,000!

There was what must be close to 1000 seats empty above the Twente fans in club level alone!

I hold my hands up. For about the third time in ten years I left before the end. I still got home at 23.30 and if I had waited for the end it would have been after midnight. Had my 12 yo lad with me. The 20.05 ko did not help.

The other 2 times one was on my wife's birthday (self preservation  ) the other was a beer cup game where we were in a similar posiotion 4-0 up and coasting. My son and I had a chat and decided it was unlikely that Twente were going to score 5 in the last 7 minutes so we headed off. Missed the Bendtner goal so that was our punishment.

I do hate it when people leave early but last night was an unusual circumstance. I won't be making a habit of it. :barscarf:

I too cannot understand why so many people leave so early.

The stadium didn't look completely full to start with and its obvious they use ticket sales to produce the attendance figures.

I live miles away and i never get home home till at least 1am on CL nights and then i'm up at 6.

I say until the full time whistle is blown you should use your memebership card to get out the stadium and that we would know who these people are, and they sacrifice a few places on the upgrade membership waiting lists, or even be barred from a game to allow those will stay the entire match to attend.

Oops, BTW there weren't 59000 there last night but I think it was nearer 55k than 50k. Actually that wasn't too bad for a game that was pretty much irrelevant.

Not bad attendance considering. Chav$ki couldn't even sell out for several group games last season and I was expecting it to be sub 50k last night.

I too was dissapointed to see 10 mins from the end half the stadium empty, i said to my brother how embarrasing for other rival clubs and the players out there to whitness that.

It must have a negative effect on the players when they look around and see it half full. You will never see anfield like that.

I was also having a chat with my brother last night and we go to nearly all away games and home and we were saying how impressive and how proud we should be of our away support. I just dont understand and whyyyyyy the home support is so poor, maybe the corporate maybe the size of the stadium who knooows.

i think season tickets are counted as ''being there'' even if there not

so heres the maths part

40000 st holders

3000 away fans

16000 tickets sold and the game went to general sale
now mr fizman i think you had better do your maths because 16000 tickes for a game that went on general sale and the fact that 100000 members couldnt be bothered might sent some message to you and your board, stop taking us for granted

the thing is, it isnt just late kick offs where thousands leave early

OKay last nght was particuarky bad, but even on 3 o clock kick offs thousands go 10 mins early to get home half an hour ealy, why???

we need a song or banner or leaflet cmpaign or something. our atmosphere can only get better with those thousand staying at the end t cheer our boys.
