Gallas Captain ???

Post by All_Arsenal_1886 »

Arsène Wenger is in no hurry to name his new captain.

The departure of Thierry Henry has created a vacancy to lead out the side. Gilberto is probably the favourite after filling the role in the Frenchman’s lengthy absence last season. However, somewhat surprisingly, William Gallas wore the armband at Salzburg on Wednesday less than a year after signing from Chelsea. Afterwards Wenger explained his reasoning.

“In every game you need a captain,â€

I personally want Gilberto tp be the captain, But it won't surprise me to see him make Gallas Le Skipper.
Apparently he's quite an imposing character in the dressing room and in training.
You never know lads, he may be a great captain...

I wouldn't mind too much - love the passion with which he celebrates and he hates losing! However, if his comments pre-season were true too much of a liability in terms of sulking

Gilberto for skips for me
Kolo as stand by (CC captain)
Jens in case we ever need another captain
I wouldn't mind Gallas getting it but he hasn't even played for Arsenal for a year yet & already we think Willy could get it
Gilberto & Kolo have played for Arsenal the same ammount of time as each other (though Kolo was there in the doube season but never played)
Besides them lot we haven't got a captain matrial player so in the future this may bugger us but lets not worry on that as we shall soon have these youth players becoming the next Viera's, Henry's & Adams etc

King Kolo personally, although i would be far from disappointed if Bert got the armand.

also big shout out to our very own ECD on getting the 400 posts required for joining the house of hand shandies that is also known as the diamond club, nice one :D

I find it hard to believe how some of you think its a good idea to make Gallas the captain. A captain has to show faith in the younger players and encourage them and Gallas havent done that with all his recent comments. Hes a well known moaner, probably as on the field as off (a la a certain Theirry Henry of late). Some players are just not captancy material, Henry wasnt and neither is Gallas. Its about time the captancy is trutsed with a loyal, honest and stable character and that for me is Gilberto, specially after he led a Brazil B side to the copa title.

I think is should be given to Gilberto, he was awsome last season scored double figures and defended well, he has never moaned, and I think to give the arm band to Gallas is an insult to his effort. I think we would have been in trouble without him last season.

He was a goal scoring holding midfielder last season!!! give him the freakin arm band.

I think long term I would like to see diaby play well and teke the arm band. Some one who has the sort of energy like he showed in the friendly to pick up the football in his own half and take the fight to over team from midfeild inspires to a team that is losing or drawing.

I'd have son of cygan as captain ahead of Gallas!!!

In order of preference:

Gilberto
Toure
Cesc
Jens

The fact that it gets so hard after Gilberto and Toure says something about our squad actually!

Normally wouldn't consider Cesc being so young and 'regretting' signing for 8 years and mad jens is well too mad, you wouldn't want him being the one with permission to argue decisions with the ref, i imagine most in the country hate him!

We should have more than 2 realistic candidates for someone experienced enough or loyal enough or spent long enough with the team!!!!!!!!

maybe it was a convenient occassion for AW to test how gallas would cope with the responsibility ... well, I hope it ends just as a test ...

I would be most dis-appointed if Kolo or Gilberto don't get it. Gallas has not earned it in the slightest, and giving it to him will send out a very wrong message ...

Why is it that when a player appears to be unsettled and speaks out about club policy Wenger rewards him with the armband!?

Vieira and then Henry and now Gallas!!! Kolo is my number 1 choice as he is Arsenal to the bone!
