Early Leavers

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think we need to recognise though that there is a huge gulf between people that fuck off say 20 minutes early who live in London and people who live miles away who leave 2 or 3 minutes early to get a train.

Some people do have two hour or more journeys each way and it is very easy to criticise those when you live in say.......Hampstead or somewhere!

It's the early leaving for the 12:45/3:00/4:00 weekend KOs that piss me right off.
Last season I understood the early leaving situation...but last night was pathetic.

The rush these f*ckers made for the exit was out of order - if ANY of them were moaning or complaining before the game about the team's start to the season they should take a look at themselves.

We expect anyone who pulls on an Arsenal shirt to die for the cause, but so should the fans. You can't berate someone for not trying or playing badly when 80 minutes into the game you turn around and f*ck off!

We played well last night, but you could see the players walking off almost deflated. They finished the game, looked up and everyone had gone, leaving a few thousand to clap/cheer them off. That, in everyone's book, is SH!T support. Why would anyone want to play for a club where the fans don't give a f*ck, we have a go at players for wanting more money, but when your home support are as bad as last night money becomes the only motivation!

The board need to seriously look at this constant problem. They need to address it before the players begin to lose faith in the home support.
I agree, I doubt any of these *word censored* actually care about the team. They don't even sing, ban every *word censored* who leaves early unles sthey have a valid reason.

I reckon anyone leaving early should swipe before they leave and if we get into a final your only guranteed one by the amount of minutes you have watched the game for so someone who watches the game for a full 90 minutes week in week out has more preference to that of a fan who watches the game 75 minutes week in week out!!

That sounds like a fair deal and completely do-able. It would almost instantly solve the problem.

So if someone goes to every game but misses a few minutes because they make a 5 hour round trip and struggle to get home they deserve to go to the Final less than someone who lives in Holloway?

Do me a favour! How childish!

yes of course and when someones family member has a serious or fatal accident or their wife goes into labour they can use the excuse oh sorry love, my carling cup final ticket was on the line. I appreciate your suggestions but that is pure bollox from my perspective

I'm sure under this system there would be a way of ensuring that unique events could be accounted for, etc, etc!

As for people who live far away being punished for coming to the game and having to leave early, I've never understood this...see...I had to wait 9 years before I got my season ticket because so many people held onto theirs, and yet, when I was allowed to take up the option, my girlfriend wanted to move to the south coast. But, and I kid you not, because I had just been given my season ticket I persuaded her to move into Hertfordshire. She gave in, BECAUSE SHE UNDERSTOOD WHAT IT MEANT TO ME. Obviously, I'm lucky...HOWEVER, when I took up my seat it turned out I was sitting next to a guy who I didn't know and who didn't live in London, in fact he lived near Wales and never bothered coming to late night games, always left early (with an excuse), hardly ever sang and would often go and watch his local team (who he would speak passionately about)...see he just kept going to Arsenal almost out of habit rather than true, true passion. I believe that although he was most definitelt part of our glorious past, he is not the future, and although he has the money to pay for a season ticket, the club should be trying to encourage those who will really get behind the team.

There are plenty of supporters who get the supporter-coaches to matches ever week. I assume they don't have to leave early to get the coach back every game, so why do people who live miles outside London not join their local supporters club and get the coach home? Obviously, the boys in Ireland and further abroad have an excuse...but they can hardly be blamed for the mass exodus we experience EVERY SINGLE WEEK!

Let's remember this is just a suggestion to try and give early leavers an incentive to stay! Obviously club loyalty just isn't enough for these people, so rather than just slag it off, why not come up with a better idea to help them stay!

I have had to leave early on numerous occasions because of work. Now if I have a shift that starts at 1800 am I a better Gooner if I just don't bother turning up at all, an even better Gooner if by not turning up at all some real Gooner could have my seat or come and leave a few minutes early so I don't end up on a disciplinary at work? Late three times in any rolling year means disciplinary action so would the real gooners pay my mortgage if the worse did happen? I have to say before I am totally slagged off this is only about 10% of games that I have to do this.

But also why stop at the early leavers at the end?? Let's look at it as a whole. Why is it ten minutes into a game I have to get up to let some prick sit down who has obviously been down the pub drinking or left it too late to get there on time.

What about those that must get to the bar 5-10 minutes before half time and come back 5 minutes into the second half?

All of these people miss more of the game ten the early leavers but I haven't spotted the thread slagging them off to post there.
