Alonso to leave Liverpool!!!
Speaking to a bloke in the City today who was at The Liverpool game last night and he said that it is pretty common knowledge around Anfield that Alonso is leaving. He was signing autographs after the game last night and then waved bye to the fans and blowing a kiss..
Come on Wenger...pull your finger out!!!!

I originally thought that any move for Alonso, would be tide in with Barry...but, with Liverpool buying Riera, I suppose the Alonso deal may be still on.
He's not the type of player I think we need, but I suppose if Wenger thinks that Denilson and Cesc can play together, then Alonso and Cesc can too, as Denilson and Alonso are a similar type of player.
I still think we're desperate for a real midfield enforcer, though.
4 days, and counting.....

This is the crux of the matter.g88ner wrote:I originally thought that any move for Alonso, would be tide in with Barry...but, with Liverpool buying Riera, I suppose the Alonso deal may be still on.

Cesc and Alonso would seem to be our best central midfield pairing.
But it is making the best of an unbalanced squad..where there is not enough emphasis on tackling.
I have a dream that Coquelin forces his way into the side by the New Year..his tackling skills and workrate dazzling Mr Wenger in reserve games!
I know they were only friendlies, but I was very impressed with Coquelin. His energy and desire was great to see, and he was a ferocious little tackler for a 17yr old.QuartzGooner wrote:This is the crux of the matter.

I like your dream Quartz, but at 17, I suppose the best we can hope for is that he stars in the Carling Cup...but stranger things have happened

I've really started to like Denilson. I can see him becoming a world class midfielder in a couple of years time when he's got a bit more experience as well weight, I'd like him to play a lot this season but with Diaby out all the time we neeed another man in there as well, I'd prefer someone that hasn't played for Mänure Pool or CSKA but really don't feel comfortable with Song.

If Denilson keeps playing the way he has this season he wont be at the club in 2 years time. The truth is you have to deliver now when given the chance not 2 years time.If we buy the DM we are crying out for he wont be starting many games.
He's not Hackney Marshes class at the moment- I watched him carefully in the Twente game, and the guy really can't pass the ball to save his life.JakeN13 wrote:I've really started to like Denilson. He loses his concentration at times but in my opion he's a much better passer of the ball than Gilberto ever was. His movement around the pitch is great, he reads the game very well for someone of his age and I think he's got at least 2 assists so far this season as well.dennis_10 wrote:He's not Hackney Marshes class at the moment- I watched him carefully in the Twente game, and the guy really can't pass the ball to save his life.JakeN13 wrote:I've really started to like Denilson. Jury's out on that mate- he doesn't release the ball half as quickly as Bert did, and he isn't as composed either. I'm all for him learning the game, but central midfield is a very unforgiving place.JakeN13 wrote:He loses his concentration at times but in my opion he's a much better passer of the ball than Gilberto ever was.
