Gallas Captain ???

not such a bad plan as since tone left the armband has resulted in the player fucking off within a couple of seasons.

Why not Gallas?

I hope it brings him on and cements him in our club!

Cesc is to inexperienced, Kolo is still deep down a wasp in a jar remix and sorry I think with the emergence of Abou this could be Bert's last season with us!

Give the guy a break and see if this is the kick up the arse he needs!

Can he be a worse captain than Thierry?

TheOne2Smooth, UFG, kheoz and BG14 thanks I would love to be captain 8)

The first thing I would do is tell Gallas that their is no chance of him getting the armband off me until he learns to keep his mouth shut in front of the media criticising the team. :x

Seriously though I have no problem with the King or Gilberto having it they last season were the only two of the older players who actually showed any passion and although I think Cesc will make a good captain in years to come I think he is too young right now and rather than heap pressure on him we should try to keep it off him and let him play freely and ddo what he does best. Express his brilliance through the ball.

 For me Green Gooner hit the nail on the head when he referred to previous unsettled players being handed the captaincy and the whole thing stinks again of Wenger bowing to one of his moody compatriots. There is every possibility, as some of you have said, that the captaincy might re-focus gallas and make him more aware of his responsibilities but he cannot get it ahead of other players. I have to be honest though and say that we are very low on decent captaincy materials (a la adams, mclintock etc) but as with the majority I would have to give it to gilberto because of the way he handled it last season. It makes me laugh though when some fans "lord up" gilberto's performances last season and refer to him scoring plenty of goals - most of them were f*cking penalties. If we had a decent enforcer (a la vieira) gilberto probably wouldn't make the team

Gilberto did a great job of leading Brazil to the Copa America. Give him a go, and if Diaby takes his place give it to Kolo.

Gallas would be the next choice I think, if Wenger gave it to Lehmann he'd spend more time outside of his box arguing with the ref than in it!

Just read that Wenger said Gilberto will miss the start of the season as he won't return to training until August 7.

So Gallas or Toure then, at least for the start.

In Arsene we trust except when he want to appoint Gallas as captain it seems. It wont be Gilberto because Arsene said he wants it to be a defender. My choice would be Kolo but if not Gallas will do the job

The only reason i could think of to give Gallas the armband is to piss Cashley A.Hole

Maybe Arsene does hate Cashley

Don't think cashley cares unless some rings him (several times) to tell him.

Wasn't happy with Gallas speaking publicly but may be the making of him. Can't really go wrong with him, Jens, Kolo, Gilberto. Kolo would be my first choice.....obviously!

kolo is number one choice with gallas as his deputy maybe.
they had a nice little system of rotation for the emirates cup which probably wouldnt work for the prem nut hey
i personally dont think gallas is artsenal enough to lead us where as kolo would probably bleed red and white lol
