The Official Arsenal v Newcastle Utd thread

Post by Chippy »

Once more with feeling. Looks like the same squad as Wednesday. I think we know the definites.

Almunia
sagna
Gallas
Clichy
Cesc
Theo
Nasri

Think the other spots are up for grabs but I'd say 90% certain front 2 will be RvP and Greedy. What are the thoughts.

PS Gus got Tampax to sponsor one of his threads. I thought of Northern Rock for this one as we could bale them out with all the money AW is saving.

i've got Shay Given in my fantasy team. he's been magic for me up to now but I suppose I'll have to dump him.

Pretty sure it will be RvP upfront with Greedywhore. Usually I would say Robin needs to be dropped but the options are limited with a less than masterful display by Bendtner the other night.

Be interesting to see who partners Cesc in the middle tomorrow. My guess would be Denilson but I still worry that is far too lightweight. Eboue...........more strength there but far too shit!

At the back I would like to se Djourou with Willy. Have always been a fan of Toure but I wouldn't mind betting Kolo does not play half the games this season. Newcastle are still struggling to have anyone fit upfront so I don't see a huge amount of problems for whoever partners Gallas at the back. Saying that Fulam only needed the one chance!

I can see us winning 2-0 or something like that.

Would I be wrong to call this must win? (obviously we need to win every premier league game, but saying it like that adds extra importance. And I think how we play in this match will signal our intent. We want that intent to intimidate other teams.)

If we even draw, and the frontrunners all win, then we are already 5 points behind after 3 games.

In saying that, I think we will come out strong.

Something like a 3-0 win. :barscarf:

Song is better than Deilson atm, he should be first choice over him hands down.

I'd like to see Song play instead of Denilson, I must admit.

I don't like the look of Densilon and Cesc at CM...seems a little lightweight to me, and Denilson isn't exactly known for biting challenges, is he.

Song is an interesting player, and I'd like to see more of him at CM...but not as much as I'd like a new signing, Arsene!

They do have Owen, even if only to bring on from the bench, add in one or two fantastic passers of the ball in the Newcastle squad and we might want to be careful. Newcastle's defence is making errors at least but Given always performs well against us, the git.

We won't get a Twente performance in terms of racking up the goals but we must look to have more possession then we did on Wednesday. A good performance and a narrow win would do me fine, even better if we keep a clean sheet. I would start Cesc ahead of Denilson, bring back Ade and Toure in for Nic and Djorou.

Looks like Joey Barton might be available. Now that is somebody who really does need booing.
