It was indeed, I was in block 25 giving stick to the away end. The best bit was when Denilson scored.EL-Z wrote:thats a very good point other than the fact Barton is a total and utter disgrace. truly, i hate very few people any more than him. he shud barely be allowed in public, let alone on what must surely be a bloated footballers wage.
he was stirring up shit with people in the family enclosure..tw*t.
absolutely disgraceful that he is still is a footballer.
but other than that, great performance, few missed chances...but the biggest positive for me was a really spiced up atmosphere in comparison to most home games...i wonder why...the weather perhaps!
Atmosphere was very good at times today. I was highly impressed considering i'd nailed a few too many ciders and then mistakenly taken on an inhumane amount of fried chicken from some filthy kebaby in Archway lol
The Official Arsenal v Newcastle Utd thread
Yes the atmosphere was good. best for a long time. Must have been Rebel and CorkBarry..
Anyone else at the South end noticing that we are seeing loads of goals.
has the jinx been lifted?
Also saw George, Radford and Nelson in the club area at the south end with somebody I know I should know but as he is now bald and about 17 stone I couldn't place him. Anyone else sse them?

Overated in my books. Yes some of his saves were good! Now don't get my wrong.EL-Z wrote:I would like to give alot of credit to Shay Given who always proves his class as a keeper
I just think he overalabrates some of the saves which could be held.
I noticed this for years after someone told meI didn't believe him but slowly I've been convinced.
Some of the shots slightly above head height Alumia would catch. Given would arch his back and make a backward dive tiping the ball over. Wow!

I do think he is a good goal keeper needless to say.
sorry but i totally disagree. Shay Given for 1.5m is probably one of the best bargain buys in GK history. He is technically superb and has amazing agility and reflexes. Lets not forget hes relatively short for a keeper to. When they drew 1-1 with us at the emirates 06/07 it was his form which stopped us getting 3 points. He was one of the stars of Newcastles impressive draw with man u this season. I personally think hes highly underrated. If he was overrated then he would have been snapped up by another club by now for a large amount of money. Anyway sorry for ranting on about someone who doesnt even play for us but I believe he should get credit where he deserves causes hes a brilliant talent in my bookBoomer wrote:Overated in my books. I didn't say he was bad i was just saying he wasn't "awesome with awesome sauce". He had an OK game, and was better than some of his recent poor perforamnces but wasn't one of our best players, and I think the rest of your post means you agree with me.Boomer wrote:V.Persie had one of his best games in ages in an Arsenal shirt!! Was nice to see him get back to some sharpness. oh well if reports are to be belieived and he has broke his ankle normal service has resumed![]()
However, I don't think it was that bad as he did walk of un-aided. (fingers crossd!)
I've been waiting for Vela and in his brief subs appearance boy is this guy 'Gunner' be good!!
He's first touch is excellent and i knew he was quick but his strenght and the way he uses he body to win and keep possesion was exciting to see.
So in a way I hope V.Persie is injured (for a week or two) so I can watch Vela more.
Just got back to Bristol. Well that was a long day...give me 3pm kick off's any day.
Good performance. I like Nasri more and more with every game, and credit to Ade...I thought he played well, and I thought he deserved a goal today.
RvP scored a couple, so hopefully that'll give the lad some much needed confidence...just a shame he has to wait 2 weeks for his next Arsenal game
Also, well played Eboue - his one-two, then backheel for the 2nd goal was Bergkamp-esque
ok, not quite....but I thought he did well tonight, although he was beginning to make more and more mistakes as the game went on, so I was pleased to see him replaced by Theo.
Can't knock Almunia (did he even have a shot to save?) and our back 4 looked well in control, apart from the odd scare.
One last point...good performance, but we know we can play great football - and beat teams - at the Grove, but the next set of fixtures will tell us much more about this team. Away games at Blackburn, Kiev and Bolton in the space of 8 days will test the metal of this young side, and will tell us a lot about our title credentials.
3-0, and 2nd in the table.....ok Arsene, over to you...transfer window shuts in 2 days, so go work your magic!

That was my first game of the season at The Grove, and very satisfied I was too. Great to see Nasri in the flesh for the first time.
Ok, Keegan's Newcastle are our perfect oppo but there were so many positives:
* Great all round team performance - after 30 mins, my 6 year old daughter, watching only her third game, said Arsenal are playing well because the ball was always near the Newcastle goal.
* Very good individual performances from van Persie, Ade, Cesc, Nasri, Clichy, Eboue and Vela and good performances from Gallas, Sagna, Toure, Song, Almunia and Walcott.
* Although we could have easily scored 6 or 7, we got a scoreline that reflected our dominance, something we don't always do.
* I didn't think I would ever see it, but Eboue getting a deserved standing ovation.
* Quite understandably, Ade was still getting some boos at the start, but he played well and with energy (even with the usual collection of offside decisions and missing an easy chance). I sensed the crowd felt he's now served penance for his summer behaviour. He can now be left to enjoy his £70k a week.
On the negative side, of course we're all worried about RvP's injury. As he showed yesterday, when he's on song, he's fantastic, but these bloody injuries. Crossed fingers on that one.
And then there's Denilson. I (and for what it's worth, everyone sitting around me) thought he was terrible yesterday. He gave the ball away more often than he made successful passes, even when there was no pressure on him. There didn't seem to be much wrong with his positioning, his tackling and his energy, but he just made so many mistakes when he had the ball. Although I think Song is really a CB for the future, he looked much better at DM when he came on. I had real hopes for Denilson. I just hope this is only bad form.

i think one of the big pluses was the atmosphere yesterday...lots of noise coming from the RedAction whick carried on around the ground. I was next to the geordies in yellow section and they could hardly be heard which is unusual for them.
Arsenal fans were singing well yesterday, and i am sure that lifted the team

I WOULD AGREE THE ATMOSPHERE WAS EXCELLENT BUT WOULD DISAGREE THAT IT WAS THE REDACTION FELLAS THAT PROVIDED THIS!chunkyandy wrote:i think one of the big pluses was the atmosphere yesterday...lots of noise coming from the RedAction whick carried on around the ground. I SAT IN THE "CLOCKEND" FOR THE FIRST HALF AND THEY MAKE FAR MUCH MORE NOISE THAN THE SECTION I USUALLY SIT ABOVE!

I promise it wasn't me!SWLGooner wrote:I have been to Bristol once. For 2 hours. I was the subject of an attempted mugging and someone completely unrelated to the muggers broke into my dad's car and nicked all our stuff.g88ner wrote:Just got back to Bristol.![]()
