As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
"It's not fair my team havent bought anyone and now I dont think we are going to win anything" I'm not happy and I'm going to screem and shout. What's the point of me supporting a team that ain't going to win anything
For fucks sake you lot of glory hunting part time fans. It's simple if you dont like it then fuck off and support Man City, or the chavs and then if they don't win anything you can kick off about how we spend £200M play shyt football and didn't win the league. That should make you happy.
God forbid you should support your team through good times and bad. AW has turned us from a good cup team in to one of the best in Europe but every time he shows faith in the players he has you stick the knife in his back.
Please remember I never said he was perfect and I do think he has made some mistakes. But I can't belive the crap some people (I can't call them supporters) give him.

The Caped Crusader wrote:I'm not surprised we haven't signed anyone, when Wenger casually remarked he thought the deadline was 12 noon I got the distinct feeling he wasn't looking at adding to the squad. I have long suspected that he lost the club chequebook and is too embarrassed to admit it to the board. Look down the back of the sofa Arsene.
But I'm not as disappointed as many others seem to be, Spurs, City and Liverpool are spending like it's going outa fashion and while I don't think we'll win the league I expect to finish above all those clubs. Realistically Gareth Barry, the player I've wanted to see come to the club for a long time was ridiculously overpriced. While for me our squad remains too shallow to compete on all fronts we will have a few options in the much fretted over position of central midfielder. Within the squad we have Cesc, Denilson, Song, Ramsey, Diaby who can play there, they may prove to be as effective as a big name signing, I would like to see Song given an opportunity in the holding role, I think he's well suited to it.
The only thing which is saving me from despair is, believe it or not, last season. I thought we'd plummet down the table when we failed to add some big signings to the squad. I would never have believed Adebayor would have scored as many as he did, that the previously unknown Eduardo would prove to be a major find, that Flamini and Hleb would both up their contribution considerably and that the whole squad generally would improve across the board. We really should have won that title, and but for a very bad day at Birmingham we might have.
So far this season we have looked mediocre against WBA, awful against Fulham and awesome against Newcastle, lets hope the latter is the real Arsenal. Arsenal were better than I expected last year, but ultimately not strong enough in depth to win the league, it seems to go against all footballing logic to think they can improve given who has left and who has been signed, but doesn't Nasri already look a more potent goal threat than the balletic Hleb?
I expect new stars to be born in the cauldron of the Emirates this season and I still believe in Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal possess in their squad, as far as we are aware, at time of writing just one genuine confirmed defensive central midfielder.
Yes, just ONE.
Francis Coquelin, a 17 year old rookie. Very good from what we have seen, but he is the only one.
Eboue is filling in with a central midfield ball winning role but is really a right back. He is doing a reasonable job considering the circumstances. It may be that Wenger wil continue to use him in the middle.
Denilson is a "holding midfielder", which means he can pass the ball around...quite well at times, but at others it is to the opposition.
He is not a guy I would trust alongside Cesc through a season. Not at this stage.
Diaby is an attacking midfielder. There is nothing defensive about him. He cannot tackle. He is frequently injured.
Ramsey is quite tough, but not ready, and is more of a passing midfielder.
Song is able to play a defensive midfield role, but he appears more of a central defender. His large build may be suited more to a Makalele role in five man midfield, which we do not often play.
Toure is built like a sprinter. Good for occasional power runs forward, not built for constant motion like Flamini. As with Song, there are doubts if he has the stamina required to run for 90 minutes next to Cesc in a 4-4-2.
Djourou is a central defender but is similar to Song in that he can play in central midfield if needed.
Hi is more lithe of build so may be able to play next to Cesc in a 4-4-2. He can tackle. He can pass. Yet I would like to see him in central defence, and others do too. He may though be the find of the season in central midfield, though it has many question marks over it.
Gallas may be able to do a job for us in central midfield...but I have never seen him play there!
Jay Emmanuel Thomas is a youth player who had some run outs pre season. He can tackle, but looks a season from ready.
Gilberto, Flamini and Diarra have all left.
IT is a big worry.
Wenger must have an idea of what he is doing, but unless we are going to play 4-5-1 more often, I cannot figure it out.
How is that well said? It was a random attack at a point of view that I don't think anyone has expressed!
People aren't crying...they're frustrated. Not frustrated because we want to be like Man City...but because we have several flaws in our squad, that minimal investment would help to rectify, and strangely Wenger has chosen not to.
These aren't bad times Southampton...the club has made is very clear that finance is available..it's just that Wenger has chosen not to spend it. We've made a profit again.
I'll support Arsenal as I always have...but I'm suprised we haven't signed a centre midfielder...really suprisef, and if I can't voice that on an Arsenal forum, then where?

Exactly, I am really pissed off ATM as Arsene has chosen not to sign anyone (we think), and Jan seems a very long way off, and then he'll sign some feutus from Thailand. He's so fucking stubborn to splash the cash a bit, We Are Arsenal we should be challenging for 1st and the CL not 4th with poxy teams threatening to take our place, to them 4th is like winning the league, now it's becoming the norm for us.
