As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
It may well be that R&W have decided that they are not going to gain control and will disband once they can sell their shares as part of an approved takeover? That would certainly make Dein's role with R&W surplus to requirements.
Whatever, I am sure all involved will son give us a clear and honest account of proceedings!

He's no longer involved with the Russian, who still owns roughly 25% of our club.
It looks like Dien's looking for a job with UEFA or FIFA or whatever.
Anyway, this now means if the Russian (is he Russian?) fella gets his hands on the club, then it won't involve bringing Dien in with him.
I wonder how that makes people feel who want to get rid of the curent board and saw Dien/Usmanov as a good option. Is Usmanov as an 'attractive' proposition now?
Without Dein Usmanov can frack off. This is not good news but it could have been worse if Usmanov had already taken over and then sacked Dein.
Still it doesnt look good.
As a pro DD supporter I am well pleased at this latest turn of events. I have always hoped to see DD return to the club but like many here usmanov would not be on my list of preferred owners. It did cross my mind though that with the club about to name a new ceo that maybe just maybe DD might be in the running but realistically we know that aint going to happen although wenger did say that he did have some input into the choice of the new ceo so you would never know The one black spot though, from my end of it at least, is that this probably puts to rest any hope I still carried that DD would one day return to the club
Strange events maybe afoot. As Gooner.Ed states in his book, the disdain between the board and DD is what maybe preventing the current members selling to fat and orange, so sacking DD maybe a move to purchase more shares or at least to favor the ideals of current board members and soften them up for when the lock down ends. I think DD would be good for the club in its current state, we need a heavy who actually like the club but its pretty unlikely he's coming back, i just hope i'm wrong about fat and orange wanting to increase their share this way.
If DD ends up working for FIFA or even the FA it would be good to have a gooner on their staff.
I stopped being a 'fan' of DD after he sold his shares and got into bed with Usmanov, however, if the Russian was to take over our club I would rather that DD was part of the package. Now he's not, there is NO WAY that I want Usmanov in control.
As for DD being any use to us working for the FA or FIFA, I think he would be as much use to Sp*rs as he was to us. Especially if the current board were still at our helm. Seeing as on the whole I tend to support the current board in what they're doing, DD at the FA would be a disaster!
Having said all this, Mr Bond, I wonder what the Russian is planning?
There is no doubt in my mind that DD loves Arsenal. The only problem is he loves the smell of dirty money a whole lot more. He did so much good for the club that it's a pity he'll be remembered for all the crap that's gone on over the last few years.
Perhaps Red and White will sell their shares to a Arab investor?
I know that they resisted selling earlier in the year to City's new boss, but perhaps they now feel the time is right, and will switch attention back to buying a Russian club?

Not sure how true it is but there were reports over the weekend that Usmanov might want to off-load his stake in Arsenal and tried to sell his shares to one of the Arabs.
Let's hope he has given up hope on owning Arsenal as an 'investment' and decides to sell to someone less 'controversal'.
usmanov was never looking to take control in my view, he's an investor and out to make a lot of money off his shares when he sells, david dein was doing what he thought was best for arsenal and thought by selling up he was doing the right thing,
he always wanted what was best for arsenal on the field of play and to quote gooner eds book,
dein was concerned that the arsenal board were more interested in building flats then building a team

Sorry IHH, but I don't believe this is possible. The only people wealthy enough to buy a top Premier League club these days are inevitably going to be controversial for one reason or another:
Abramovitch, Usmanov = russian mafia
Shinawatra = fraud
Arabs = human rights abuses
Gone are the days when a self made millionaire sugar daddy gooner will be waiting in the wings.... I've switched sides on this so many times that I'm starting to feel like an Italian, but I actually believe that it might just be "better the devil you know", for all their undoubted faults.
i liked dein, he was influential in most of our best signings and also in contract negotiations, i think his only failure was with cashley. admitted he cudnt keep hold of the likes of anelka and stefan schwarz but they were just savagely guilty. id be happy to see him back at the club. like someone has already said wenger and him still get on. hes also massively influential in national/european football. wasnt he head of the G14 or whatever they were called before he left Arsenal, its only the fact he left Arsenal that he had to step down from potentially one of the most important positions in world football. id like to know if he still thinks we desperately need investment because if the news is to be believed Wenger doesnt think we do whereas dein thinks we do...i dont think he'll come back tho, i cant see the board allowing it. but i have no doubt he still loves Arsenal and was actually attempting to gain more control with the whole usmanimov affair but failed because the board closed ranks.

Dein was all for outside investment/takeover, would not think he has changed his ideas now.
He will never come back to the club with the current board in charge.
