Thanks Galasso, we agree to differ on the image in question but I appreciate you taking the time to read my point of view and understanding why I have it.Galasso wrote:I can appreciate your view Quartz and respect it.
I suppose we all have our personal limits and that is just not one of mine -

Guys, I know you think my reaction was OTT, but I did find certain pictures inappopriate.
With regards to Anne Frank - I guess you must ask why was she hiding and who was doing the seeking? Maybe that explains it.
Imagine if your family tree got to a certain point and then just stopped?
What I think Quartz is saying is that several of the pictures could have been classed as offensive to different people, this one was offensive to me and I stand by that.
Wayno - thanks for deleting them (whether you agreed or not).

from my own point of view i can see where the offence has come in for certain people but its gone bit too pc for me and certain people on here need to get a humour transplant
it was a joke thread, people can ignore it instead of responding and pushing the thread back up to the top ,just let it die its natural death like every other thread

Rebel (apart from this time) I am not going to bump this again.
Whether or not you agree with my point of view isnt the point, surely the point is if people say they are upset by something surely that should be respected?
I did choose to ignore it the first time round, but when Quartz said it made him uneasy then I agreed.
I dont normally enter into the religious arguements because I know this sort of debate happens, and I DO have a sense of humour (my digs at you lot are very tongue in cheek, hence my use of emoticons etc).
And thats it.

I have a Christian cousin so i find the lords prayer picture offensive please remove it
I have a uncle/aunt that is a transvestite so that also offends me please remove it.
My brother has anger management issues so please remove this image as it is offensive to people with this problem.
I know someone with alzheimers and find it inappropriate.
On a more serious note, the religious images were removed except the christianity which recieved no complaint. Is it ok to take the piss out of some religions and not the others?
If you start censoring things that someone finds offensive theres not gonna be anything left.

To be fair to Quartz he only said he didn't find the two images funny. When pushed he then explained why they were offensive. At no point did he ask for them to be deleted. The delteion was done by Wayno, showing consideration to the feelings of other forum members.
I genuinely don't know what to think on topics like this. The situation of where to draw the line is not a clear one as there are people on both sides of the freedom/censor debate who will take advantage. This is a debate which is shied away from too much and it allows those holding extreme views (on both sides) to operate.
Set within the context of the other images I could not have taken offence at the christian image (although I am a christian) as it was not posted with malice. I would have thought that other peoples' interpretation of the images which have gone would have been the same but I realise I do not have their history or culture. I am not being judgemental in any way and I think Wayno acted commendably by withdrawing images which members found offensive.

Thanks to the mods I didnt see the original pics but again I do feel that sometimes the world is far too sanitised for my liking. I can understand that some people do get offended and/or find a joke in bad taste but show me a joke that doesnt offend somebody. For countless years their have been millions of irishman jokes but as a race of people we have either ignored them or come back with a response of our own. Surely even in the true story jokes there is somebody that is the "victim" as the butt of the jokes and that person could easily get offended ?
My own theory is laugh if you find the jokes funny or ignore them if you dont
