the mexican waves. your opinion?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

i've deleted the two repeats. i am seriously going to have to consider giving moderation rights to a couple more of the long term residents as this is the first chance i've had to even look at this here forum since friday.

there was even a repeat post from stearmaster, who should really know better by now.

read the message about 'repeat postings' that lives near the top of the 'general chat' forum, just to confirm how you get around delays once you've hit 'submit' 8)

IHH..... I can't believe you feel that strongly about a mexican wave! I'm just pleased that enough people felt they wanted to participate in SOMETHING! ANYTHING! Maybe next time they'll all sing a song instead!!! Maybe we should have an anthem!

And what a daft idea of yours to suggest that there could be one towards the end of a game we're comfortably winning. How could we have a wave with all those gaps....!

What about also deleting the posts complaining about double posts???? They are just a disgraceful way of people trying to get into the 500 club without having to take the trouble to think about something witty/interesting/informative to write about!!!

Alternatively, what about giving "bonus" post credits for particularly witty/interesting/informative posts such as this?

WHAT A RADICAL IDEA!! 8) FANS SINGING SONGS AT A FOOTBALL MATCH!! 8) NOT SURE IT WILL CATCH ON AT ASHBURTON THOUGH!  AS FOR AN ANTHEM - NAH, THAT WOULD BE WAY TOO DIFFICULT TO ORGANISE!!  PROBABLY END UP WITH A CRAP SONG FROM THE SIXTIES THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE OR TOO EMBARRASSING FOR A FOOTBALL CROWD TO SING ALONG TO!!

DONALDO,

HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT MATE, AND 'THE WAVE' DOESN'T CONTINUE TO BE DONE WHEN THE SEASON STARTS. OTHERWISE I WILL HAVE TO TAKE-OUT EACH AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT PARTICIPATES IN IT!! ONE BY ONE!!     YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED!!!!

what a disgraceful and lazy way of getting into the 500 club, complaining about people complaining about repeat posts. MK Gould i would've expected better of you.

and now for something completely different:
I WILL HAVE TO TAKE-OUT EACH AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT PARTICIPATES IN IT ONE BY ONE!!
a night out on the town with the Hlebster, what a horrifying thought.   no offence.

Ok, just to confirm a few things:

1, How mexican waves started:

I know i asked how mexican waves started in the first place, i wasnt quite expecting the answer "some bloke in the Orange Quadrant shouted 5,4,3,2,1 and everyone done it" I was sat in the Orange Quadrant, i know exactly how the mexican wave started YESTERDAY, what i meant was, how did mexican waves start years and years and years ago. I mean the first ever mexican wave........EVER!!!

2, The Triple Post...

I apologise profusely for this. I have only just arrived back at my home on the south coast, after spending the weekend with family much closer to Arsenal. I used their comp last night to make a few posts. I had 2 IE windows loaded up, as i hit submit on one, it gave me the old "cannot load page" windows crap. I flicked back to the other screen, reloaded it, and my post hadnt been submitted. I done this 3 times without success. It turns out that they all worked, Huge Whoops on my account, but i am delegating the blame to a shit Internet Connection....

3. My view on mexican waves

I agree with most people on here, they are good fun if done at the right time. Pre season is the right time. I would not want to be playing the **** or something and in between biting my nails, having to keep standing up, wave my arms and cheer.... But, it does have one great side effect. CLUB LEVEL ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!
