Paul Gascoigne - In Hospital Again

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't know the facts, but has Gazza been to Tony Adam's Sporting Chance clinic?

He has - although some time ago.

Clearly needs a return visit.

Yeah, because if not he is on borrowed time.

He was once a great footballer and the darling of the nation, we all laughed at how he partied like a lad, in fact for a while he was considered the ultimate lad with high profile friends such as , Chris Evans and Danny Baker, he was what a generation of lads aspired to.

I was one of them, I pissed it up to silly proportions, I even done the Dentist Chair in the infamous China Jump Club in Hong Kong, it is so sad to see the outcome of his lifestyle and a stark reminder of how drink and drugs really doesn't give a shit of who you are or how much you earn, it will destroy you regardless.

Thing with Gascoigne was, that even though he drank and ate kebabs, he was one of the fittest players in the game. Trained like a demon, first to arrive at training and last to leave.

What I find upsetting is that other ex players have gone on to make media careers, but he could not get his life together to do that.

He is a naturally funny guy, if he was sober he could have a niche on tv.

My point is how much better would he have been had he not drank and eaten kebabs, after all he was a professional with the responsibility to club and country[/quote]

I cannot bring my self to hate Gazza.

I was secretly envious when he joined the Spuds and as a ploayer he was awesome........but virtuallt all genius's are flawed.

I do hope he sorts himself out but I fear he will be found dead one day soon. I hope not as he was superb and yes I did like the lifesyle he lead.

Real shame!

:(

True he had a responsibility, but in his era plenty other players drank and ate like him at times, they just managed to keep on top of the drink did not get addicted to the booze.

Football in 1996 was a different era, Wenger had yet to arrive and ban Mars Bars and make players eat broccolli.

I thought the FA were meant to be helping Gazza
yeah but that's George Best, not Gazza. Where's the relavence here?
Because Gazza will go down the same root. Dont get me started on George Best, amazing talent, one of the greatest the game has seen. I lost my grandad as he was an alcoholic, and when you see some-one given the chance to save them selves,it kind of angers you that he abused it. But im not looking for an argument im simply expressing MY OPINION. If others dont want to agree with it then thats fair enough.

Gazza will end up dead as a result of drink, his death will be premature and the tabloids will sell untolg amounts of copies for a whole week telling stories of who he shagged and beds he pissed in. Will we feel happy then? The man is clearly sick and unfortunately ex Spud or not the help he obviously needs is the last thing he wants.

The only person who can help him is himself. Deep down he knows he needs help, but Gazza craves attention and always has done. Perhaps that Jimmy 5 Belly's should help rather than selling stories about him. It is a sad waste to a terrific talent but i cant feel sorry for him. I would love to see him get the help he so desperatley needs, but until he does something about it then he wont get it.
