Paul Gascoigne - In Hospital Again

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Gazza would have benefited from Ferguson no doubt, and as i said before, he got rid of those players who boozed, doesn't matter when Gazza arrived, Ferguson would have helped him.

United also had a core of Geordies up there such as Steve Bruce and even someone like Bobby Charlton to be able to help the lad. I'm not saying it WOULD have been perfect, but it would have been better than joining Spurs and being on his own in London

(And if you think Best just stuck to your manchester you are seriously mistaken)
There is no way of knowing if Gazza would have flourished or declined at Man Utd.

I never said Best stuck to Manchester btw.

yes but as also mentioned around this time he failed to steer Lee Sharpe away from distractions. The success of Ryan Giggs has more to do with him being a more stable character than Gazza.

It's also not that Fergie didn't have a 100% record at this point, he had a 0% record. He had not successfully brought any significant young players through at Man Utd until Ryan Giggs.

I'm sorry Rigsby as this doesn't mean anything either, Spurs also had Geordies - Terry Fenwick and Chris Waddle. The latter knew Gazza from playing at Newcastle. The idea that Gazza went down to London all on his own is also a myth.

I'm not quite sure what this means exactly, please clarify.

There was more than enough to distract him in Manchester, including two of his own nightclubs, Slack Alice's and Oscars.

And if you're saying that George didn't just stick to Manchester, than why would you think that Gazza would have?[/quote]
