He says that he was nervous, but the players helped him. The boss told him to "free his chest" and he just went out there and did his thing. He prefers to play in a central position, but he has been playing out left for a while now. He says the main differences between the youth and reserve levels and the top level is the speed and the intensity.

He talks about how he played for Wimbledon for the under 15's and played against Arsenal. We snapped him up on a two year scholarship, and the rest is history. He says that the Youth Cup last year was pretty much his big break as it helped him to deal with the pressure of big occasions etc.

He thinks Arsene's comments on him being a "mini Ryan Giggs" are a bit wide of the mark, but hopefully he'll be able to live up to it one day.

In the coming season, he hopes to be involved in a Carling Cup run, and then to see where his career goes from there. Also, he reckons the reserves have a good chance of winning the league next year.

After coming out of the dressing room at the Grove, having just played against Inter Milan, the first person he called was his mum, who told him she was very proud of him.

cheers tony!

thats really sweet of him to call his mum isnt it! is she settled in england and not afraid of rain? i don't know if we need another mummys boy needing to go home cos the bad men at the football match tripped him up.

:P

pretty bog standard stuff from a footballer i guess. i missed this arsene comment about him being a mini giggs but i have heard plenty of good things about young gibbs.

another central midfielder on the books?
