now for something totally different!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes, no Big Brother on here. The sole reason I've gone to the States is to avoid that shit. Not.

As for the bird who shouts "Come...on...you...Gunnerrrrrs! Come on Arsenal!" (my interpretation of it); I've always been fascinated to find out who she is. Gawd bless her, she's been doing it for years. Over on the Arseblog forum, they reckon she's Cypriot. I've always wanted to know who she was. I even considered that maybe she was a recording that was played, as her cry was so consistent and so identical each time.

But that'd be one conspiracy theory too many. Or would it?

Her name is Maria - she has been going since 1969 when she said she was middle aged. She must be in her 70's now if my maths is correct. I remember her going with the old travel club in the late 70's. I had a good chat with her before the Barnet game and she was off to Austria and the Ajax tournament. She is a top Gooner and one to be remembered for her Come on you Gunners shout!

Well that answered that. I always thought Maria was the one who sat behind the North Bank goal and who would scream (near enough) every time the opposition had a shot on it. My Dad knows her and he did tell me her name, but I've forgotten it now. I assume they're different people, or maybe they're one and the same...

*quick flash back* Eileen...Elaine...isn't it something like that? Oh I don't know...
