gunner's greatest moments
Just saw on the official website that our 8th Gunners Greatest Moment was moving to ashburton grove, and thus one above Henry becoming our record goalscorer. At first i thought henry becoming our record goalscorer was a better moment, (poss it would have been if he hadnt left) but now im not too sure. Waht does everyone else think? discuss (feel like a school teacher now)
Yeah, I have real issues with this "Gunners Greatest Moments" pile of guff.
For instance, winning the F.A. Cup (2005) is ranked higher than appointing Herbert Champman as manager (14 and 18 respectively).
Also, RK scoring at WHL to win the league in '71 is only 27th behind such "Great Moments" as Dennis scoring the goal of the season (21st) and Wrighty breaking the record (22nd). What a load of old shit.
I'm afraid, me old muckers, this is what we've got to look forward to now. A club mainly supported by fans with no pre-Wenger memories.

Sorry to say it lads, but it is selected by the 'fans'. Also, I'm not sure where you guys are getting your information from, but the top 7 haven't been announced yet. I feel sure Mickey Thomas will be up there, as he hasn't been announced yet.
I'm not sure what order things were done in, but I get the impression that a shortlist was drawn up, and the 'fans' have been voting ever since.
Peep this, yo.

What do you guys reckon will be number one? I guess it's going to be the unbeaten season.

The greatest moment?? Anfield '89.
Greatest moment - no question. Whether you were watching it and were old enough to remember it, or were put in fornt of the TV, or watch it on video - there is nothing more that defines who we are now.
For one moment of pure theatrical genius, Shakespeare would not have written it. For all you young(er) guys just remember, Liverpool at Anfield was a different proposition then.
Doesn't matter how many times Sky try to get conive a repeat, it will never be beaten.
For these moments we give our souls.

I think things like this are very personal and I can never see the point of arguing over them! Everyone has their special moments! My Dad and me have very different favourites but they are both are as good as each others! Its just what we have experienced!
Do you have to compare winning the league at WHL on goal average with winning the league at Anfield on goal difference?
Was winning tje Fairs Cup better than Glorious Copenhagen?
Was Brady and Rix combining for Sunderland to score better than Bould chiiping a inch perfect pass through to Tony Admas to crash a left foot volley from the edge of the box past the keeper to round off winning the league? Does my Dad being in the Manc end of Wembley watching Alan Sunderland score beat me being in the North Bank lower watching the Upper Tier bounce like it was made of jellly!
I suggest that me seeing Anfield 89 was no better than my Dad seeing WHL 71!
For the same reasons maybe we enjoyed winning the league at Old Trafford just the same and maybe why winning the Littleoods Cup meant so much more to me as it was the first Arsenal success I remember vividly!
Guys dont compare! Its our history and should be enjoyed the same as our kids will enjoy our future!
Ooh to...Ooh to be.....

Gus - Why not argue? It's what I do with the people I go to football with and it kills me with laughter. It makes you feel alive man.I think things like this are very personal and I can never see the point of arguing over them! Everyone has their special moments! If we can't argue, then let's be honest...football can be pretty fucking boring.
Argue about that!

Yeah I mean how do ya choose between The Invincibles and Anfield 89 both are feats that'll probably never be matched again, particularly in such style, the unbeaten season was joy spread over 9 months, and pride when we completed the job against Leicester, whereas 89 was all of that packed into one memorable last gasp instant!
I don't know why but I watched the Anfield game on TV nearly 20 yrs ago and yet I actually went to the Leicester game 3 years ago yet it has to be 89 there's just somethin about it, and you only had to look at the away section to see, what it meant, didn't get that at Highbury on the final day of 2004 - relief and pride that we had done it yes but not sheer, balls out, unadulterated joy!

Gus - An arguement for the sake of it??
I feel like I have entered an alternative world....
You said let's not argue and I say why not argue. Otherwise, the only thing we will end up arguing about is who gets the number thirty fucking two shirt and what shade of pink it's going to be in.
I think a thread on here arguing about our greatest moments is worth about 20 of the others that pop up here.
Good post though!
