Quality of second stringers’ football was orgasmic (24/9)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Quality of second stringers’ football was orgasmic (24/9)

usual thread starter… If we get Spurs in any future round I’d be happier if last night’s team faced them than a mix and match side with the likes of the disinterested Gallas playing. What wins matches is desire. And these kids have it. I’ll agree that Traore and Justin Hoyte had poor games at the Lane, but they were not exactly led that night by our captain, who obviously wanted to be somewhere else…

I thought the performance by the youngsters last night was phenomenal and there seems a genuine air excitement about this crop. It's like getting a present you can't open for three years.

Let the kids play every round, keeps the huger in the team and keeps first team players fresh for the League.

It was a pleasure to be there and see the kids slaughter Sheffield United. Vela, Ramsey and Wilshere will clearly all make it big time and the young pretenders were not far behind them.

Isn't it a shame that the FA rules do not allow our reserves to play regular matches in a League such as the Championship? Is this because they are afraid we'd piss it?

Saw someone somewhere saying it should be put in context as it was only Sheffield United we beat. True but given the results by Man City, Fulham, West ham and Villa these matches also put it into context.

I really do think we should stick with the kids for all future League Cup games unless a senior player or two requires some match practice following injury. Otherwise Let the children play.

I though this was a great performance and, far from disrespecting the competition, I think the teams Wenger plays are fantastic entertainment.

The team have reached numerous semis and a final, so it is definitely a worthwhile excercise for the club on many fronts.

I know the tickets were reduced but 56,000 is still a very impressive crowd.

Vela, Wilshere et al were very impressive, but I have to make a special mention to Kieron Gibbs. I thought he looked absolutely outstanding, and he's a worthy back up to Clichy.

Top of the league and the kids impressing the world! And with a businessman as manager!! Platini would be proud of us.

If you looked deep into that performance it was the beautiful balance of the team that made it so impressive but I do so agree with Redexpress about Gibbs he is just another in the long line of great left backs our club has had, he looked every inch a first team player.
