Dein - The Raven at Arsenal’s Tower of London? (1/8)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Cus Geezer wrote:And also with regards to the board of the 1970s lacking ambition, it depends on how you define 'ambition'.

Arsenal showed no lack of ambition when they signed Alan Ball for a record transfer fee in 1971 and he did turn out to be one of our best ever players, yet he came in on a high wage and lead to several other 1st teamers demanding the same and leaving when they didn't get it, hence the mid-70s dearth.
WELL HOW ABOUT WHEN THEY ALLOWED FIRST BRADY AND THEN STAPLETON TO LEAVE BECAUSE FIRSTLY, THEY WOULDN'T PAY THE GOING RATE; AND SECONDLY, ARSENAL WERE SHOWING NO INCLINATION TO CHALLENGE THE LIKES OF LIVERPOOL, FOREST AND ASTON VILLA FOR THE LEAGUE TITLE? LIAM BRADY SAID AS MUCH HIMSELF!!

THOSE DECISIONS CAUSED THE BREAK-UP OF A TEAM THAT MIGHT WELL HAVE CHALLENGED FOR THE TITLE AT THE START OF THE EIGHTIES. AGAIN, ALL IT PROVES IS THAT WE CAN BOTH PULL OUT EXAMPLES TO SUPPOSEDLY SUPPORT OUR PARTICULAR POINT OF VIEW. 8)

ANYWAY, WE HAVE GONE ON A ROLLER-COASTER RIDE OF ARSENAL DEBATE AND STRAYED FROM THE ORIGINAL POINTS FROM MY EARLIER POSTS, WHICH WERE: THAT DESPITE SOME MISTAKES, DEIN WAS AN ARSENAL SUPPORTER WITH THE CLUB'S BEST INTERESTS AT HEART; THAT HE HAD DONE SOME GOOD WHILST A DIRECTOR OF THE CLUB - UNLIKE WHAT THE AUTHOR OF THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE WAS CLAIMING.

CUS, ALTHOUGH WE MAY HAVE DIFFERENCES ABOUT OTHER THINGS, I DON'T THINK EVEN YOU CAN DISAGREE WITH THOSE TWO POINTS!!

I doubt challenging for honours had much to do with it.

Keegan and Souness left a side that were champions of Europe to play abroad.

Earning a few quid in the sun was what motivated Brady, not that I blame him, but I hardly see how this is the board fault.

Also take into account that the economy in the UK was the sick man of Europe in comparison to other European economies and the tax reasons for British players moving abroad.

Again how can the board be blamed for these factors in not keeping hold of Brady?

GALASSO,

As you would expect, not every single episode is funny – although most are – so I thought I would make a recommendation list for you.

From season 1, I would recommend:
2. Weight Gain 4000
4. Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride
10. Mr. Hankey, The Christmas Poo
11. Tom's Rhinoplasty
12. Mecha Streisand
13. Cartman's Mom Is A Dirty Slut

In season 2, there are:
6. The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lake
7. City on the Edge Forever (a.k.a Flashbacks)
8. Summer Sucks
9. Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls
10. Chickenpox
11. Robert Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods
12. Clubhouses
18. Prehistoric Ice Man

These two from season 3:
8. Two Guys Naked in a Hot Tub
9. Jewbilee

Basically all of season 4 is good, especially:

1. Tooth Fairy Tats 2000
2. Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000
3. Timmy 2000
5. Cartman Joins NAMBLA
6. Cherokee Hair Tampons
7. Chef Goes Nanners

Season 5 has these beauties:

2. Cripple Fight
4. Scott Tenorman Must Die
6. Cartmanland
8. Towelie
10. How To Eat With Your Butt
11. The Entity
12. Here Comes the Neighbourhood
13. Kenny Dies
14. Butters' Very Own Episode

All of season 6 but especially these ones:
6. Professor Chaos
7. The Simpsons Already Did It
11. Child Abduction is Not Funny
12. A Ladder to Heaven
13. The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers
14. The Death Camp of Tolerance
15. The Biggest Douche in the Universe
16. My Future Self and Me
17. Red Sleigh Down

and all three listed in season 8:

The couple of episodes listed in 9 and 10 were not really my cup of tea and I have yet to see Season 11.

In summary, although a couple of episodes are missing from this list, my favourites are - in no particular order:

The jefferson’s; Scott Tenorman Must Die; The Return of the fellowship Ring; Weight Gain 4000; Child Abduction Is Not Funny; Timmy 2000; The Death Camp Of Tolerance and My Future Self.

Start with any of these and enjoy!!

I TYPED IN LOWER CASES THIS ONE TIME TO SAVE ON SPACE AND MAKE IT LESS CONFUSING!! YOU SHOULD FEEL HONOURED!!

IHH

Now that's what I call dedication - are you watching UFG? (only kidding mate!)

Now I can cream off the best. It did look a little daunting with all of those episodes...Just hope I don't get too addicted as I have too many addictions to cope with as it is, and I screw them up so my life screws up:

*A Woman

*Arsenal

*Beer

Ah well, whatever will be, will be.

A COUPLE MORE SUGGESTIONS

Post by I Hate Hleb »

BY THE WAY, THERE WERE TWO EPISODES NOT LISTED THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS.

ONE FROM, I BELIEVE, SEASON 9 CALLED ' THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS'; AND ANOTHER FROM SEASON 10 CALLED 'SERVED', (ALTHOUGH I'M NOT ENTIRELY SURE OF THE TITLE).

IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO SEE THEM ELSEWHERE, DO. YOU CAN GOOGLE 'SOUTHPARK' AND I'M SURE YOU WILL FIND SOMEWHERE YOU CAN DOWN-LOAD THEM FROM.

I PROMISE YOU WON'T REGRET IT - UNLESS YOU'VE HAD A SENSE-OF-HUMOUR BYPASS OF COURSE!!. :D

Those two episodes mentioned above are in fact from Season 8 and were titled ': ‘UP THE DOWN STERIODS' and 'YOU GOT F’D IN THE A!', respectively.
