Hearing whispers.............. again!

Post by Belfast Boy »

I think it's pretty much accepted that we're gonna buy a couple of players before the window closes, so it's only a matter of who, and I keep hearing the names Huntelaar and Quaresma, ooooohhh if only - fingers crossed!

He was the player I wanted most in the off season, even when everyone was talkin about Babel cos he's an out and out finisher scoring from all sorts of angles and with his back to goal!
Thing is tho I've just come in to find that he's started for Ajax v Atletico, surely they wouldn't play him if he wasn't gonna be there next season and he wouldn't risk wrecking any prospective move by getting injured!

Huntelaar isn't going to happen. Arsene has pretty much said he is happy with his strikers. I doubt Quaresma will happen too. Doesn't seem very Arsenesque, you know?

In fact, I'm not even convinced we're going to sign anyone. We've seen more positive points than negative from pre-season, and Arsene has been pretty cagey in his interviews - keeping his cards close to his chest, as normal. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

But for now, just remember; Arsene knows.

Huntelaar is the signing of my dreams, such a great player.
Scored the first ever goal at emirates, and would score loads.

Now dont quote me but Ive hearD on the old grapevine that.......

If we can agree personal terms with Robbie Savage its a done deal! The personal hairstylist has been a sticking point but apparently Petite has come up trumps!

Now brace yourself for the next one.........We have got Klinsmann!

Yes Jurgen has signed from the LA Robbie Williams Showbiz FC and is currently on an easyjet flight from Stanstead to Amsterdam! Hes making his debut on Saturday and will have shirt number 8!

Go out quick and get your shirts printed lads! JK8!

Don't know where you are hearing this stuff but it would be fantasy football for Arsenal. Only name I am hearing is Diarra of Chavs, another midfielder!

I hope you are right and I am wrong

Exactly my thoughts. I dont think Quaresma will fit in Arsene's plans. Granted hes a very talented boy, the only decent out and out winger available at the moment, but nothing about him tells me that Arsene will be interested in signing him.

And yeah the better we do in our pre season games, the more unlikely it is that we will sign anyone else. I dont think Arsene would want to break the balance and the understanding formed between players in the pre season games. I am not expecting any more transfers this summer, but i hope im wrong.

but, but, but, two weeks ago you said we were, in fact if I remember you gave a positive one word answer on the "are we buyin someone or not" thread I thought you knew somethin, and that was reinforced when apparently AW admitted at The Emirates that we were a bit short on numbers, I only heard this second hand, did he in fact say that???
I know most of the stuff is rubbish, even Martins and Kanoute are still bein bandied about with with the latter reportedly sayin yesterday that he had heard about interest from N7 and was going to instruct his agent to find out whether or not there was anything in it!

As I said in the post on last nights match v lazio this squad is too small and a blind man can see that. I have to agree with some fans comments lately that wenger has gone a bit GG(george graham) in his comments about lack of quality players available at the right prices cos we heard all that before. I cannot understand why some people think that queresma wouldnt suit Arsenal's style - he is quick, is very skillful, can play on either wing and can score goals so how does he not suit us ?? Unlike most fans I do not see the whole eboue on the wing as a good move and I think that, while he will do some positive things on the wing, overall he will actually reduce the effectiveness of the team attacking wise.

For Wenger to sign huntelar he would be as good as saying that bedtner will not make it and from the comments he is making of late I doubt the possibility has even entered his mind(although it is very much in my mind). If, and it is a huge if, we sign another striker then he has to provide something that the other strikers cannot provide and that is pace so you have got to be looking at an anelka type buy(or in an ideal world an eto).

I must admit that I have come around to the fact that we need another centre back. Djouru, a player I rate highly, was very poor last night and if he helped develop him for our good then maybe allowing him out on loan wouldnt be the worst thing. I worry about his development if he is now 4th choice centre back cos he will not get enough games.

Saying all this I am still of the opinion we will not sign anybody else even though miles palmer has stated that he has heard of 2 (i think) players that are on their way and he rates these players very highly. I know that a lot of fans hate the man but I hope he is right on this occasion

You've been going through my posts and trying to tease me haven't you BB?

Those are the two players i want us to sign more than any (chuck in Alex telling chavs to shove it and turning up at the emirates).

But don't believe it will happen.

Maybe you'll quickly move up from forum moderator to director of football and get the deals done before end of august......please? :P

Yeah well I must admit I remember your Quaresma thread and have also heard his name mentioned elsewhere lately, but I was on the Huntelaar trail even before I came here!
I think he'd be an awesome signing and he could do for us what Horseface did for the Scum and he's not just a finisher either, he loves to get stuck in!
