As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Heard worse, and about one of our own players. And yeah it happens, it's football. If we take all chants out of the game, we may aswel let club level sit everywhere.
totally right all of you, i enjoy insulting the opposing teams players, its part and parcel, i also laugh at the chants voiced at our players, hell sometimes i wanna sing em to them too when they play like mugs....
He's big, he' black.
He had a heart attack.
Kanu... Kanu
Sorry if this offends anyone although it shouldn't. But still, a quite OTT chant and I really hope that they get punished.
There's nothing to punish in that chant!
It's surely not racist to say a man is big and black, if he is in fact... big and black!
or am I missing the point??
Think you're missing the point mate , we all have to be so pc nowadays. The bane of my existence, how can something that started out so well have taken over our whole lives to such an extent. pc brigade drive me mad
I was gonna say that the chant originated here at Highbury.
It's not actually racist - Kanu is big (at 6ft 5ins you can't call him much else).
Kanu is black - he's of African ethnic origin and they like to be referred to as black - as opposed to coloureds, darkies, spades or worse.
Is it offensive to point out that he's had a heart attack? I suppose it was different as we were singing that in order to praise Kanu, Spurs probably sang it as if to say 'he's had a heart attack, ha ha!'
Too much to bother analysing whether this is offensive - probably easier to ignore it.
