As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
(yes, I'm kidding.... he's not even gay ffs, it's banter!)
I agree it is all banter and people should not get so het up but I can not understand (I am not gay btw) why in this day and age racial abuse is unacceptable but homophobic is acceptable.
Have not heard what the sp**s fans were singing but sure it is not the worst Sol has heard!
Someone posted it on page 2 of this thread (sol sol wherever you may be, not long until lunacy, we don't give a fuck if you're hanging from a tree, judas *word censored* with hiv).
People are always going to give footballers stick - rumours of them being gay (or shoving phones up their arse) are just another stick to beat them with. I'd guess the only reason racism isn't used (often) is because it would insult some of our players too - other clubs use racist (anti-French) chants against us. I don't think we can be so self righteous when we've got songs about Cashley

thats old neway, i heard that ages ago in my local
Have to say, I've heard worse. It's only homophobic by association and inferal, in that most people (incorrectly) associate HIV as a soley gay disease.
As for the Cashley thing; I give that crunt all the abuse I can but would never stoop to calling him homophobic names. The mobile up the arse song isn't a homosexual thing - it's a perverted sex thing (apparently) done by hetero- and homo-sexuals... I'm sure Spuddy could inform us more about this though...

I wasn't going to go through and name every bloody phobic that I or others could possibly take offence to!!!!
Who knows, the HIV comments could have nothing to do with homosexuality! Plenty of straight people in Africa and the rest of the world for that matter with HIV!!
Well what sort of banter did you think it was? They were not taking the piss out of his height! your post seemed to indicate that racist abuse was unacceptable other types of abuse was. If not the case and you meant any sort of abuse was unacceptable then fair play!
yeah i cant see why a big fuss is made of it to be honest - the amount of abuse cole gets at stamford bridge since his move is prob very similar, so i dont get why people make such a big thing about it. its part of footy.
personally, sol should be taking it as a compliment that spurs fans cant forget it to this day. he no longer plays for us, is past his best, yet they cant get over the fact their shining light moved for 'free' to a better club to win trophies!!
The Spurs fans are bitter, because they have not won the League since 1962. (actually 1961 as pointed out by Ian Ure, but just shows how long ago it was)
As for Cole, I was disappointed at the way he moved clubs, and did get annoyed at him, but now I just could not care less as currently Clichy is better than Cole is.
The whole "Gay" jibes about Sol and Cole only seemed to start when they moved clubs to rivals, never seen any evidence that either is gay, have seen a fair bit of evidence that they are anything but gay!
The Sol song sung by fans would be a major incident in the USA.
Talk of a Black player "Hanging from a tree" is highly inflammatory there for clear historical reasons, I can only hope that the Spurs fans did not mean it in that context.

Oh for the days when you could sing what you wanted!
I am not saying that some of it was right but I am saying that people ignored it if they didn't like it and went home unharmed!
These days if you sing a song about someone with big ears a petition get handed in at Downing Street!
Load of old PC *****!
About four years ago I had some.....ahem.....dealings with a constable from out local nick. He told me that they was prompted to no longer refer to a statement as "having it in black and white"! Mentioned colour you see and this could cause problems. No, they had to say "they had the facts on pen and paper"!
Really, you couldn't make it up!
This world is gonna get boring very fucking quickly!
There is PC where it is nonsense such as that incident that Gus had where a common and and offensive phrase is banned.
So people campaign for them to be banned, like phrases such as "manhours" being changed to "humanhours" etc....and it makes people less concerned about genuine incidents or phrases that should be banned.
I worked for a company that banned the word "Blackboard" and we had to use "Chalkboard", and we were not to use "White Board" instead we had to use "Presentation Board" and it was clearly ridiculous.
The Sol song just makes Spurs seem more bitter and sad and smalltime than ever before, they have two points and nothing to sing about in a football sense anyway.
