I do Skizto, yes.

We may not have the squad to win the title, as we clearly haven't got the consistency required, but we have a very talented young squad, who can beat anyone, so why not?

You don't have to be the best team to win a cup competition... just hit form at teh right time, and have a bit of luck. We're due some in Europe, in my opinion.

For me it looks like aiming for a top 4 spot again is the best we can hope for. A trophy this season would be excellent and yes, a cup win is very much a possibility, but Champions League football is essential, both finacially and in the sense of attracting the best players to the club. It's frustrating, and maybe a little boring, but priority 1 must be gaining a Champions League spot.

Don't underestimate the 1-1 today Skizto. Sunderland have spent a lot more than us over the past two seasons. They're a more ambitious club and we've managed to rescue a point against them on their home ground.

I think we need to lower our expectations to that of the club and it's players (Cesc/Clichy excluded).

AT THE START OF THE SEASON I SAID THE BEST WE COULD HOPE FOR WAS A TOP 4 FINISH.BUT IF WE CAN ONLY TAKE 1PT FROM FULHAM HULL AND SUNDERLAND EVER THAT IS LOOKING OPTOMISTIC

QUESTIONS HAVE TO ASKED NOW CAN WENGER MOTIVATE THIS TEAM AGAINST POOR OPPOSITION

Yes you could question Wenger's motivational skills when it comes to these games, but it doesn't help when experienced players like Toure admit to feeling "scared" before facing teams such as Hull. Evey week we read the interviews where our players admit their motivated and determined to win something, but it would seem that even at this stage the pressure is starting to tell. I'm worried that we're fast becoming a team of bottlers, and Wenger has no solution to the problem.

As is your right to do so, Calo.

Last season - although with a slightly different squad - we beat AC Milan, Chelsea and ManU. We won't know until we've played some top teams, but I suspect we'll fair ok against the big clubs (especially at the Grove)

You don't need to be the best team in Europe to win he CL, and that's good news for us.

The CL is won and lost on fine margins, and I do think that if we hit form at the right time, and have a bit more luck than last season, we can win the CL.

After all, we got to the final 2 years ago with a defence of Flamini, Toure, Senderos and Eboue in it! So... you never know 8)

I've seen Wenger's interview - post match.

HE'S LIVING IN DENIAL and it's sad to witness. Fulham, Hull and Sunderland and we've managed one point from nine

We are still in 3 Cup competitions and there's always a chance in one or more of them. But as far as the EPL is concerned, we've already been thoroughly exposed.

I can see us being dead in the water, Prem wise, before Christmas. All last season Wenger's apologists insisted that he was getting it right because we "were improving and we nearly won it..."

So if we go back to where we were two years ago - where's the improvement ?

The facts are stark and simple.

We need - in no particular order :-

A new Captain giving proper leadership.

A new central defensive pairing giving us impact in both penalty areas.

Another one - or preferably two - midfielder(s) who can assist Fabregas and/or take over from him, when he does not perform; because we are utterly reliant on him - far more so than we were on PV4 at his peak.

This requires the Manager to admit past mistakes and go into the transfer market and deal accordingly. That is actually what Managers are supposed to do !

Now what are the chances of Wenger addressing any of the above ?

The sad fact is that the further into the hole we get, the harder Wenger digs.

I'm not yet at the point of calling for his departure. But the further this season goes, the more he repeats the same lame excuses, the less of any kind of get-out I see available.

not been picky here mate but last season did we not play man u 3 times, lost twice and got a last minute draw at home,

agree you dont have to be the best to win the cl ( liverpool ) but we are not good enough, and it is wengers fault for not buying in a better midfield then what we have at the club, things are already bad for us and we have played none of the top teams and i dont just mean the other top 3 of last season
gooner glass's off for a minute and look at our team and who is good enough , not many and that is the painful part :banghead:

Yep, sorry... the memory of Gallas' last minute equaliser, felt like a victory at the time, but yes, we did only draw.

My point's the same though... we can beat anyone on our day (I really believe that) but over a season, can we show the consistency to finish above ManUre and Chelsea?? not a chance, I'm afraid.

So, although doubtful, I do believe we can win the CL, as you don't need to be the best. Just look at Liverpool and Porto in the CL; and even Greece in the Euro's!! :? so we can win it... but we're up against it, obviously.

Our problem is pretty straight forward. Said it before and will say it again - why the fcuk wont we shoot from the edge of the box now and again ? Will force teams to start closing us down on shooting chances outside the box and then gaps will open for the 5-a-side stuff that we seem to love playing ......

In a way, I think it might be a hangover from the Hull game. We were on a roll, and the lack of respect we showed Hull has ultimately knocked us out of step.. and our confidence and consistency has gone with it.

The thing is, a draw up at Sunderland, in isloation, isn't a horrendous result. We will drop points this season, as will ManUre and Chelsea, but when coupled with the gutless performances against Fulham and Hull.. it then puts pressure on you to win every game, which our young team just cannot do.
