Ive been going to Arsenal regular since the late 80's and even stood on the clock end during those times..... Ive never heard that song before Charlie what are the words????????charliegeorgewhocanhitem wrote:One old song that seems to survive all the years is the clock end song, "eyes right, skin back tight.............................etc" I heard it first during some of my earliest years at Highbury circa 71/72 and some geezers were still singing it at Barnet the other week.MK Gould wrote:You probably remember the song:

One year we played Nottm Forest, Liverpool, Leicester and West Ham in successive away games! How spooky is that!

Does anyone remember the bloke on the North Bank in the late 70's and early 80's who used to join in the song...
"Who the ****ing hell are you......"
but sang opera style like Paverotti. He also used to make strange comments in quiet moments during some games like..."I was brought up on oster milk...."
He was a very funny guy, must have been about 40ish then and used to stand with 2/3 mates half way down the North Bank on the right of the goal as you look towards the pitch.
Also do you remember Harry Enfields character Loadsamoney ? I Remember many away games in the North with Gooners waving wads of cash at the scousers/ mancs etc.

Well let's just say that the lyrics extol the virtues of "making love" rather than fighting but they don't put it that politely

I'm not sure if I've got all the lyrics here but it goes something like this.........."Eyes right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boys who make more noise when we're on the c***, we're the riders of the night and we'd rather f**k than fight, we're the riders of the Clock End Highbury".
There could me more to it but I'm not sure and I've absolutely no idea about the origination of the song or exactly when it started, I just know that I've been hearing it sporadically ever since I've been going.

More of a favourite in the pubs or in Europe (pubs) nowadays it seems.
I wonder why it's so enduring, as I said, I've heard it sung since the early 70s. I'd love to know who started it and why but I guess that's lost somewhere back in the dim and distant past.
Ok another one that's from the more recent past and someone here might know how it got started. The "bejeezus said Paddy" song. I think the first time I heard it was that night back in the mid 80s away to Villa in the league cup when about 20,000 gooners (seemed like that many anyway) all decided to go. I was standing in the Witton Lane end and could hear it being sung by all the geezers up in the seats behind. Anyone know where it came from and why we started to sing it?

"Paddy" my favourite chant from some great away trips in the 80's, holds fond memories for me.
Picture the scene.....
My wedding reception. 100+ guests all seated, meal over and everyone waiting for the speeches to begin when from the back of the room I hear..
"B'Jesus said Paddy I sung it so well, I think I'll get up and I'll sing it again. So Paddy got up......." at this point my 5 closest pals, fellow Gooners all, stood up and continued singing. My Dad, at the top table with me, also got up and started singing along with a few blokes on my wife's side that I'd never met before. I just had to join in !! After a few more verses the singing died away and we were left with total silence. A real mixture of embarassment and pleasure. Cue the Best Man.
