Let’s all laugh at Tottenham (7/10)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

usual thread starter… let’s be frank. If it wasn’t for the expense of the pay-off, ramos would be toast by now. But financially, spurs are in catch 22. they can’t think about being successful until they sack the manager, but they can’t be successful until they can afford to sack the manager!

I think they will now just try and pull all the stops out to sell the club to some rich fool and bale (geddit!) out of the sinking ship. As one of their celeb fans might say, you couldn’t make it up. and we think things aren't so rosy in our part of north london...

A Tottenham supporter walks past a shop window and notices a video for sale entitled "Tottenham the golden years"
The supporter asks the shopkeeper "how much for the cassette mate" the shopkeeper replies "£200"
"£200 for a cassette?" says the fan?. "You're having a laugh"
"Oh no" the shopkeeper replies "The cassette's only a quid, but the Betamax player will cost you £199.00".

The old ones are the best eh?

1987.

That was the year.

Arsenal had the better history, but to some extent the clubs were neck and neck.

We played the League Cup semis and the replay. From the second Rocastle's goal went in, the Spurs decline began.

Then George Graham took us upward, and Arsene Wenger took us even higher.

I make you right Quartz, it was a real turning point in Arsenal's history the start of them becoming real contenders again, just 2 seasons later and we had won our first league title for 18 seasons. :barscarf:

Funny, probably on paper the tiny totts team back then was better than our group of promising youngsters, but as always they had individual's where we had a team of fighters who wouldn't give up.

Since then we have carried on challenging for trophies, winning some, losing others but nearly every season we have been there or there abouts while their greatest achievement is finishing 5th, twice, or winning the whatsit cup - take your pick, all the while telling anybody who is stupid enough to listen that next year would be their year under a succession of managers
