how did ye become gooners,, my dad is a coventry fan as he lived there before he moved 2 london where i was born,, he told me he rarely went 2 highbury but often went 2 west ham our spu*rs as the football was better,, when we moved back home it was my uncle that bought me an arsenal shirt for my 5th birthday and later on i found out how my grandad worked in highbury in the 50s and that all my london cousins are gooners so it was a family tradition,, thanks 2 my dad for not forcing coventry on me and now i hav 3 kids of my own and there all gooners ..

My Dad's a gooner. So I grew up in the tradition.

As for my brother....

-First he followed United, had a jersey 'Beckham 7'
-Then he followed Real Madrid
-Now he follows Melbourne Victory and Arsenal

He's the only person I know who expressed sadness when Reyes left. (He was his favourite player.....)

My Dad's an Arsenal fan now, but when I was growing up he never took much interest. I actually took HIM to his first game!

Yep my dad is a gooner and my grandad (his dad) was a gooner too who came from and lived in Islington . Thank fuck my family didnt come from Tottenham !

My dad was a Gooner.He came over from Ireland in 1952 and started going to Highbury a few months later he used to stand on the North Bank.He first took me to Highbury when i was 8 and i have been a Gooner ever since.His last game he when to was against Wimbledon in 1989 when Nutty scored a screamer with his RIGHT foot.His favourite player was Frank McLintock.He is now in the great stadium in the sky looking down on his beloved Gooners

Dad's a Gooner. Was taken to Highbury by his Uncle in 1946. Apart from a spell late 60's, early 70's when me and my brother were nippers, he's been going ever since. He took me to my first game at the start of the 80/81 season and we've been going home and away together since.

Best thing he ever did for me. Eternally thankful.

no my dad wasn't a gooner he don't really like football, i became a gooner because arsenal sent me vip tickets while i was in hospital when i was ten.

thats was what captured my heart and made me support arsenal, i actully had a west ham kit when i was much younger because its the only one my nan could get

my dad doesnt follow "soccer" but my grandfather is a gooner,as its the closest london team he was born near. My cousin follows tottenscum and last xmas i had a few drinks and decided it would be funny if i threw mashed spuds at him. My grandpa was the only one who laughed.

My Dad is a Gooner & has been a season ticket holder since the 1988/89 season i think in the East Upper at Highbury & East Upper at the Grove
Though i don't really know why he became a Gooner because my Grandad is a Spurs fan & hates everything about Arsenal so most of the time i don't mention them on the phone

His first footballing memory was the FA cup final as a 5 year old kid & must of been going 6 odd years later i guess
The min i was born there was a Arsenal mini kit in my bed in the Whittington despite me being very sick

Off the top of my head he's been to 7 FA Cup finals, 2 league cup finals, 3 cup winners cup finals, 1 CL final & 5 charity shields over the years

MY FATHER WASN'T INTO FOOTBALL AT ALL. ALL HIS TIME WAS SPENT TRYING TO EARN A CRUST TO BRING UP MY FIVE SIBLINGS AND ME.

HOWEVER, AS I MENTIONED ON ANOTHER THREAD, I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE BROUGHT UP A FEW HUNDRED YARDS FROM THE OLD HIGHBURY STADIUM.

I BECAME HOOKED THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE ROAR OF THE CROWD AND SAW THE FLOODLIGHTS ON FOR AN EVENING MATCH. I THEREFORE HAD NO CHOICE AS TO WHO I SUPPORTED - DESTINY MADE ARSENAL MY LOCAL TEAM!!

AH, ALMOST FORGOT. THE THING THAT REALLY CEMENTED MY LOYALTY WAS WHEN THE FRIENDLY OLD LOCAL PARK KEEPER OFFERED ME A HALF-A-SHILLING BET ON THE RESULT OF THE 1971 FA CUP FINAL.

I OBVIOUSLY TOOK IT BUT WAS CRAPPING MYSELF BECAUSE I WAS ONLY 7 AT THE TIME AND NOT RECEIVING POCKET MONEY AT ALL!! THEREFORE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE TO PAY HIM HAD THE ARSENAL LOST!!

I DO HOWEVER REMEMBER RUNNING TO THE PARK AT GREAT PACE ON THE MONDAY MORNING TO COLLECT MY WINNINGS!!
